Happy New Year – 2021 Goals!

Happy New Year you wonderful lot!

We are back for another year of goals, blogging and adventure in travels and books! I can’t wait to see what this year holds. Although with a weak start with Covid-19 putting me back in Tier 4 restrictions and furloughed from work at least it will give me plenty of time to work on my blog and socials. Speaking of my blog and socials that is where a lot of my goals lie for this year, as well as a personal few of my own, and I’d really like to share these with you all. I believe if I share these goals with you it will help me to manifest and push my goals forward!

So here are my goals for 2021;

Reach my Goodreads reading goal of 50 books! I feel I may be pushing it this year with 50 books especially as last year I had lockdown and furlough to help me along, this year I am only furloughs until March and I hope to get back to normality after that (We can hope). Therefore I feel like I may be pushing myself, but hey isn’t that what goals are about? So here is to reaching 50 books this year, I’ll be reviewing these books as I go as well so stay tuned!

Reach 350 followers and 20 email followers for my blog! A huge goal, but I am hoping this is something that I can reach. So if you’re reading this with your WordPress sight, drop me a follow, lets help each other as I will absolutely return the love and favour.

Reach 2000 followers on my blog Instagram, Wandererandtraveller, so that I can share so much more with you beautiful people! I love Instagram and it is my favorite social media platform. I also love seeing everyone else adventures too especially in a time where we can’t travel as much as we would like.

A language goal now. In lockdown 1, 2020, I decided to start learning French to keep me going and give me something to do. I decided I wanted to really up my french language and started learning on Duolingo. I now have a 300 page French workbook and hope to smash the whole thing out so it will help me learn! As well as listening to Duolingo’s French podcasts as well, although I am not at the intermediate stage so the podcast is a little difficult I am hoping to be able to understand it better.

I also in lockdown 1 started a Digital Media Marketing course with Google Classroom and never completed it. Thats another huge goal for me. To sit down to learn and finish this course. I feel like my brain will turn to mush otherwise! Especially with no work going on at the moment I need to make sure I keep myself mentally stimulated otherwise I might also loose the will and motivation.

More blogging collaborations! I LOVE working with the girls on my Blog Brew Collaboration so it is only right to help make that collaboration even better, but also participate in more! More blogger awards, more blogging collaborations, more guest posts! Sharing is caring and helping each other along the way. The happiest of goals for 2021.

So there are some of my goals for 2021! Some which will take a lot of time and effort and others which I can master along the way. As long as I give myself the time and keep up morale and motivation I should be able to power through!

What are your 2021 goals? Let me know in the comments!

The Peak District – B29 Overexposed wreckage walk

Once I got wind we were heading to the peak district ironically, a Tiktok came up on my feed about a crash site up in the mountains! The B29 Bomber plan crash and i love dark tourism so this was an awesome find. So upon learning it was also half an hour away from where we were staying I had to suggest it to the group and luckily they were down for it.

So we jumped in the car with our packed lunches, walking boots in the boot, our raincoats and drove down Snake Road and stopped on the side of the road which has limited parking as it was basically like a lay by either side of the road, right at the start of the walk!

It wasn’t the most beautiful sunny day and it had been raining the day before so the main pathway was like a mini waterfall with water running along side and down the actual path itself. Nothing too unbearable for us in our walking boots, although I did feel sorry for Jack who was in just his NIKE trainers for the walk. We saw some beautiful waterfalls and had a beautiful hike, it was so much fun to do because I’ve only ever been to the lakes before with my parents for Christmas and New Years not with friends so it was such an enjoyable walk.

Once we got to the very top we came across the B2 Bomber Plane Overexposed crash site. It was definitely an experience I don’t think I’ll ever forget.

So a little history. The B29 Bomber Plane was making a renaissance journey back to base with 13 passengers on board, including the pilots. Unfortunately the visibility was incredibly poor that day and its believed that they didn’t even see the ground before they hit it. The plane was destroyed and all 13 of the passengers died on impact. The wreckage is still up on the moors to this day (of course we you can walk there!). Its incredibly interesting and there is a mural for the remembrance of these soldiers.

Once we had walked through the wreckage of the plane we walked to the summit which was literally just beside the site. The views were absolutely outstanding and it was decided our lunch spot for the afternoon! Once we were done it was time to make our way back to the path! Now admittedly we when en route to the site went only slightly of piste, and because of this decided we could do the same walking back and in the process got, not exactly lost? But we definitely went the wrong way, we even climbed up a waterfall in the process! it was fun and exciting and just when Jack and I were looking at the map to find the path both Brad and Maddie turned around and were like guys, we found it!

We managed to stay dry most of the day as well until literally 30 metres from the car jack decided to stand in a large deep puddle. So nearly all of us stayed dry the whole way!

Sri Lanka – Final Goodbye’s & Sleeping in Airport’s

So our final meal was back in Colombo at the Coconut Lodge

It was a buffet of more beautiful Sri Lankan foods, curries and rice’s. I believe at this point we were all tired and ready for the trip to come to an end, especially knowing we had a long flight ahead of us that same evening.

We did speech and thanked Martin and his Wife who we had the privilege of leading us through our trip in Kandy and Colombo, Sri Lanka. It definably opened up my love for the subject and job area, and is now firmly what I want to go into as a future career.

Doha Airport

With all this said, eaten, and done we headed back to the Lodge in Colombo once more. Some lucky people in our group had one more day before their flight so they stayed the night, whereas our bus leaving for the airport was at 12am that night.

We relaxed and chilled out at the Lodge on our friend El’s patio reminiscing about the amazing trip we had had and that going home would definitely be a sore subject.

12am rolls around and the same 8 girls we were all together with on the way out we were all on the same flight home. We played uno and cards in the airport before boarding our flight to Doha.

Once we were at Doha all the girls minus myself and Zana left in the airport to do a whistle-stop tour of Doha city. We had a 7 hour layover and I needed to sleep as once we were back in the UK I as driving myself and Mel back to Lincoln from Hertfordshire, so I slept in the airport laydown area, which was quite relaxing!

Thank you so much for following through this HUGE journey through Sri Lanka, Asia. Its only taken me over an entire year to write but the love and memories are strong with this one.

BIG LOVE ALWAYS & THANK YOU!

Book Review: Winter (The Lunar Chronicles) – Marissa Meyers

WELL, WHAT A BOOK.

*Spoilers Alert*

800+ pages? Challenge accepted, I couldn’t put it down from start to finish it was a fantastic read. Hands down the best book out of the 5. It took me about a week of straight reading to get through this.

“She might be broken. She might be crazy. But she would not be defeated.”

Winter was a character I really enjoyed but really struggled to get my head around. She was quirky, unusual and almost what I would call floaty type of personality. I understand why Scarlet called her crazy so often due to the way she was portrayed.

The brilliance of this book really shows through the storyline because for 800+ pages I did wonder how quickly I would get bored. It never came! The storyline was immersive throughout the whole book, I never knew what was going to happen next and even when the next thing happened, I never expected it! It was constant excitement, the ball just kept on moving and the ending was EXACTLY what I wanted.

Everyone ended up with the right people, the right person ended up being queen, the right people got murdered (A really happy statement that one) and all is well on Luna & Earth now. It was absolutely how I wanted it to end. I know they’re all based on Disney characters and Disney stories and you can really see it throughout, but I wanted the ending to not be something half arsed and they weren’t.

Winters ‘Murder’ was incredibly well done by Jacin Clay, Although I never really grew to his character throughout any of the books.

When Cinder jumped off Levana’s balcony you best believe I thought that was the end of her, thank the lord for the squad saving her or I would have genuinely believed she was dead. I love Iko’s heroism throughout the entire series as well, she is such a prominent go getter non stop she just never fails to make me laugh and never gives in. Definitely my favourite character.

The fight to end all fights was momentous and I really did think they were going to lose, not going to sugar coat that. But they always win in the end of course, but I didn’t expect the scene between Levana and Cinder to go the direction it did. I mean, I knew Levana was going to die in some way but I didn’t think she would surrender the way she did. I am also very happy Aimery died, best death of the book. He deserved it. I have an actual hatred for his character.

I would also love to have a glamour, as twisted as Levana was with hers, I would love to go out looking like shit but to everyone else I look amazing. It is an incredibly clever concept from Marissa Meyer.

It was amazing from start to finish, I’ve given the series to my work colleague so she can read them all as they are just such great books. Just need to read Fairest, the book on Levana and it will aaaaaaall make so much more sense! For now I’ve decided to read something else so that I can give my brain a break, so now I’m reading Dark Matter by Blake Crouch.

Marissa Meyers is a talented writer and I can’t wait to read her other books about Iko And her adventures too!

Solid 5/5

Birchbox -September (& May, Surprise!) Products.

Best believe it has taken me whole month to get this far.

I ordered my September Birchbox at the start of month and was super excited until I received my October box, in October, and never received my September box! Baffled, dazed, confused and after endless complaining to Birchbox and slamming them on twitter later cause I’m a frustrated gyal after 3 emails, they pulled through.

YA GIRL GOT 2 FOR THE PRICE OF 1 TO SAY SORRY, so for this I will be going through BOTH boxes for y’all. Naturally I either wanted the month refunded or something nice but to receive 2 boxes was pretty badass so I was uber happy.

So I received a September Box and a May box!

So many goodies to go through and show you all, I can’t wait to use them!

The reason I decided now I am working full time to get Birchboxes was because when I was at Uni I really felt like I lost complete and utter care of my own self care and beauty regimes, I am really excited to get back into looking after myself a whole lot more.

September 2019 Box!

For starters I love the motivational quotes that are on the top of all the products when you slide the boxes open. September’s Quote was short and sweet!

I definitely tear the front of the product booklets off for them to go on my wall. I have already rippe Octobers in Half so that will be a fun blog post to (try to) write! SO the products in September’s box were all about nurturing your skin a little more!

1. Benefit Cosmetics, Posietint!

You can put this tint on your lips and cheeks! To receive a benefit product as well in these boxes is awesome considering their value! Now I’m not usually one to use tint so I am unsure of how this will look but hey, next time I’m out I am definitely ready to give this a go! – RRP £15.50.

‘Favourite Face Mask’ of the Birchbox Beauty Awards 2019! – RRP 28.50.

3. Marcelle Micellar Water

I used this yesterday to take of my make up and the Aloe in this product is so FRESH. The best part is this being Rinse-free, I am really specific and simple when it comes to make-up and routines. “Strip things back to basics and forget our lengthy skincare routine” and they are not lying with this, mega impressed! only downside was I got some in my eye and it really hurt but thats my own stupidity because who opens their eyes while taking of mascara huh? Me. – RRP £18.00

4. Number 4 Comb,Prep and Protect

I used this one on Monday and man my hair smelt fresh and soft and it even brought my waves back. I found since starting work they disappeared along with my hair care routine so i felt really good the next day seeing the difference which is rare! – RRP £26.25

Graduation

Graduation was the most memorable day of my life so far, It will take a lot to beat it!

If you read my new beginnings post you know I graduated with some beautiful ladies, was lucky enough to have my entire family there and partied the night away with my nearest and dearest. Not to mention Graduation ball 2 days later with MORE Alcohol.

For starters, to the girls if they’re reading this, WE FUCKING DID IT. I am so proud of us all for working so hard through all the tears, horrible lecturers, assignments that went on for weeks, GROUP WORK (EW) and every other wall we have had to smash through or climb over. How did we manage it many boozy nights later I will never know, but we did. And for that I am eternally grateful for you all.

Brad & I met our families at the top of the city of Lincoln’s Steep Hill! Our gown hire, photography and general drinks and sign in was in the Lincoln Castle Walls and our actual graduation ceremony was in the Lincoln Cathedral!

We went for dinner at 4pm to a restaurant called Cafe Zoot. The food was AMAZING, so tasty and filling. I had the chorizo and chicken paella and lord I never wanted it to end! Once our tummies were full Brad and I left the family to join us in the cathedral at 5:30pm as our ceremony was at 7:30pm but we had to head in to get seated at 6:30pm!

It was all very civilised and organised. I had a gentleman fit my cap and gown for me and pin my cap to my head so it didn’t wobble or fall off, our colours to graduate were yellow and blue! I had to re-fit my cap with Mel about 60 million times throughout the ceremony. Imagine how much my jaw dropped when I saw Brad in his graduation gown, Gorgeous. We were so lucky to get to graduate at the same time an he same day!

The family appeared and it was PICTURE TIME. So many photos but standing so proud in our gowns. Photos with Brad, with my family, with Mel and Stan, with the girls. Man, the list goes on. Not to mention the professional pictures we had once we got gowned up!

The ceremony was beautiful. Us students were at the front of the cathedral and the parents, double the amount of students, were sat behind us! The Pro Chancellor of the university, all our lecturers and many more very important people were sat on the stage in front of us all to take the graduation ceremony.

There was music from trumpets as 6 uniformed men walked down the centre of the Cathedral for the Chancellor’s procession before they were seated. Afterwards there were a number of speeches and awards and finally, our names were called.

Mel and I were lucky enough to be sat with each other which was one of the highlights of the day, we were so overwhelmed and excited we couldn’t wait to get up there and accept our degree!

When they did call us up we were nervous, they made us sit at the side of the hall as they had 2 speeches to do before our course was announced! We were SO NERVOUS. When you walk on stage you are too salute and shake the gentlemans hand, that was it, but it was SO nerve racking!

Brad was fairly close to the front so the whoops and cheers I made when he graduated were loud and proud, he walked and he Graduated! Then it was our time, I don’t remember going up but I know it happened. I do remember going up I just think my mind blacked out during it

It was surreal when my name was called and I walked, I graduated. When Mel’s name was called behind me, she walked and graduated. We met at the bottom of the slope of the stage and arm in arm with our degree’s we walked back to our seats with smiles so large you couldn’t miss them from the other end of the cathedral.

When the ceremony had ended the uniformed men with their trumpets had returned, followed by the Chancellor’s procession, and Us. The Graduates.

I will never forget the feeling walking down the centre of the cathedral, Mel in front. Parents cheering, clapping, the music playing out through the cathedral and holding my degree to my chest. I could’ve and nearly did cry.

WE HAD GRADUATED!

Afterwards, this was a cause for celebration.

We met our friends at the top of the hill and that was when all our families came together in The Magna Carta pub chatting and laughing.

Lets just say we ended up in Walkabout Australian Bar until the lights came on at 2pm with My mum, sister, Brad and his whole family, Mel and her whole family and our closest friends too.

I could not have asked for a better day, nor had I ever felt so proud. My heart is full.
