The Lifestyle Ladies Collaboration: What I’ve Watched Throughout Lockdown!

Hey! Welcome back to Wanderer and Traveller, this isn’t a permanent return but I will be returning soon!

I am BACK with a collaboration post with the wonderful Lifestyle Ladies and we are going to be writing about this month what we’ve all been watching through lockdown! I’ve watched so many things its actually been really hard to narrow it down to such a small list, but these are some of my favourite and most watched over Lockdown! Some being feel good shows, to live shows, sport and action packed series. So let’s get into it!

Formula 1: Drive To Survive

“The drivers, managers and team owners in Formula 1 live life in the fast lane — both on and off the track. This docuseries gives viewers exclusive, intimate access to the people in one of the world’s greatest racing competitions. “Formula 1: Drive to Survive” reveals the true story of the high-octane sport, which goes beyond the fight to be No. 1. There’s also a battle for the heart, soul and direction of the multibillion-dollar business. Storylines include changes that a team undergoes after an ownership change and the pressure felt to outperform other drivers.”

Now this for me deserves to be at the top because it ignited something in me for the sport that is Formula 1 that I never realised as I never watched it, and that is that I LOVE IT. I Caught a glance of a bit of an episode when I visited home that got my attention, when I came home to my man I said I’d love to give it a go. And hey presto, we now both follow Formula 1 avidly, trying to watch all the races, following the leaderboards, alp times, drivers and the behind the scenes bits. The Netflix show really opened my eyes to this crazy world, the G force and the training the drivers undergo, the CRASHES (Unreal), the technology within the cars, not to mention the DRAMA. I NEVER thought Formula 1 could be so BEEFY. A highly addictive series that I recommend definitely (and there are some wonderfully handsome men throughout if that also takes your fancy).

Benidorm

“Set in the popular Spanish seaside resort of Benidorm, this comedy series follows a group of British holidaymakers as they soak up the sun and spend their hard-earned cash on the Mediterranean coast. Staying at the Solana, a selection of guests including couples and young families make the most of their time abroad, as they relax by the hotel’s swimming pool and enjoy meals and evening entertainment in the resident restaurant and bar. Everything doesn’t always go to plan however, with hilarity awaiting around every corner.”

I will always watch Benidorm. Something about this show makes me feel all warm inside. Its your typical British families on holiday in Benidorm following their drama and hilarious takes on life. Its a feel good and easy to watch show, although not for everyone! My man can’t stand it. But it makes me feel happy and relaxed when I don’t want to watch anything too heavy.

Greenhouse Academy

“Students at elite Southern California boarding school The Greenhouse must work together to conquer challenges after uncovering an evil plot.”

This was a recommendation from one of my girlfriends, and it did not disappoint. Definitely a young adult program, but did I care? With a storyline that intense? Absolutely I did NOT. I loved this show, super easy watching, episodes were only 20 minutes long and it was also so tense! Something was always happening with these kids it was mad. I watched all the series in less than a week, its totally addictive. Some of it can be quite cringe, but I wouldn’t have expected anything less from a show like this!

Below Deck & Below Deck Mediterranean

“This reality series profiles a group of young people who work aboard yachts that measure well over 100 feet long. The crew members, known as yachties, live aboard the luxurious, privately owned vessels while making sure that their demanding clients’ ever-changing needs are met. The yachties share a passion for a job that allows them to visit some of the world’s most beautiful places. Each episode features a different group of passengers — ranging from millionaires to hard-partying friends — as they head out for a marine adventure. The crews live by the “work hard, play harder” motto that gives them access to exotic perks few people get to experience.”

I started watching these series on Netflix and Amazon before they stopped releasing the series for free due to its sudden rising popularity. Now You have to pay to watch them on Amazon which is a shame but I’d argue it’s totally worth it. It’s an insight into that super yacht life and what it’s like to work on these yachts. It looks like hard work, a lot of pressure. Not to mention living with the same people and working in such a confined and high intensity environment, I take my hat off to them because I would absolutely crack. But due to this, it does make for incredibly dramatic reality TV and I am so here for it. Hannah will always be my girl, if you know, you know.

The Circle USA

“In this lighthearted and strategic competition series, the players must choose whether to be themselves or other people all while chasing a cash prize.”

I started watching the American version first because its based on the UK Version. I was like If I like the American version I’ll love the UK Version. TOTALLY HOOKED. COULD NOT STOP WATCHING. The concept itself is amazing, the drama, the ones who are themselves and the ones who are catfishes. Its unreal, and when they do all finally get to meet after living behind the Circle profile and screen for 2/3 weeks it’s intense for sure! Makes you question a lot of things about social media too, whats real and whats not. Another great reality TV hit thats easy watching.

Jack Ryan

“Author Tom Clancy introduced the character of Jack Ryan in a series of books before Ryan headed to the big screen in several films. Now the former U.S. Marine is featured in an episodic series for the first time, with John Krasinski portraying Ryan in this Amazon original thriller that centers on Ryan as an up-and-coming CIA analyst. He is thrust into a dangerous field assignment for the first time and uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication. That launches him into the middle of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.”

I put off watching this show for AGES because I wasn’t convinced it would be any good. That and I can’t see John Krasinski as anyone else other than Jim from The Office (Another Elite show). I was definitely taken aback when I realised just how good this show was. Intense, gripping and action packed it certainly didn’t disappoint. We watched both series in the space of 2 weeks. although after 2 episodes I found I needed a break I was so tense.

Hanna

“Hanna is an extraordinary girl who has been raised in the forest, evading the relentless pursuit of an off-the-book CIA agent. This series — part high-concept thriller, part coming-of-age drama — follows the girl on her journey as she tries to unearth the truth behind who she is. “Hanna” is based on the 2011 film of the same name that starred Oscar-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan in the title role.”

I LOVED the film. So I felt it was only right to see how they staged the series in comparison to the film, and arguably I enjoyed the series a lot more. The actors were better, there was much more attention to detail within the storyline and it was generally really enjoyable. Fast paced and action packed again, I was absolutely addicted. Not to mention the release of series two. There was only one film, so it was interesting to see where they went after series one because series two was completely a solo series with no comparison and I found it JUST AS GOOD. you can watch this on Amazon. They also have the option to watch the film on there.

So these have been some of the programs I’ve been watching to keep myself busy during lockdown! I’m not really a movie person, so I’m sorry if i let you down on that front! But don’t forget to check out the girls recommendations on their blogs also with their links below!

The Lifestyle Ladies Collaboration: Becoming a Plant Mum

For this month, our theme is Spring!

Not only is our theme spring but we’ve also had a little revamp! We are no longer The Blog brew, we are The Lifestyle Ladies Collaboration!

This month I am writing about my plant babies I have! Recently moving house I wanted more plants knocking around my house so decided to get some, little did I know I got quite lucky in this department, my mum got me a beautiful plant for when we moved in, as well as a birthday orchid! I also picked up an Ivy as well and when its big enough is going to sit nicely on our shelves in our kitchen!

So this plant above, the Maranta Leuconeura, was one that my mum bought we when we moved into the house! The SIZE of this plant when we moved in was TINY, Like it didn’t even go over the edges of the beautiful pot she’s in. I like to name my plants I don’t know about you guys, so this lovely lady is Mary the Maranta! The joys of the Maranta is that its very low maintenance, I water her maybe once a week, once every two weeks. Once every two weeks is the instructed amount. She is also due to sit in indirect sunlight, but she seems pretty happy where she is and it isn’t direct sunlight all day. As you can see, she needs repotting ASAP! I already have a pot ready to go (unfortunately, I bought an outdoor pot for an indoor plant, doh).

She sits quite happily in my lounge on the windowsill, but she also has a neighbour! Ollie the Orchid!

Ollie the Orchid was my birthday present (yet again from my wonderful Mumma, she does well). Wherever I live I always have an Orchid (apart from uni because that just wasn’t feasible for my lifestyle). When I lived in Watford I had a huge beautiful purple Orchid the lived on my windowsill all year and it was beautiful, I’ve wanted one for the house since we moved in so when I received this in the post I was so happy! Once again Ollie sits on the windowsill and gets watered once a week, some of the blooms have already opened so I’m excited to see the rest!

Finally, we have Ivy the Ivy. I KNOW, So creative right? Ivy is a new one for my kitchen, She’s quite happy just sat by my lamp at the moment, I have just moved her to my windowsill for more light as she needs it! But once she gets a bit bigger she’s going to live on top of my kitchen units and hang down over my sink! I promise its more aesthetically pleasing than it sounds, haha! She gets watered maybe once or twice a week and I can’t wait for her to grow bigger.

I don’t have a good track record when it comes to keeping plants, so if anyone has any more advice I will gladly receive it in the comments! My last plant I had at uni was de-potted after the curtain it was behind caught on the leaves (it was spiky), and when the curtain was pulled back the entire plant was pulled out of the pot which made me very sad. So I’m trying to not let that happen again!

Here is to hopeful success as a plant mum! I’ll let you all know how I’m getting on on Instagram! I’m currently on a social media break right now, so I promise there will be more to update when the time comes.

Don’t forget to check out the lovely ladies blogs below!;

The 12 Day Countdown to 24; What I’ve Learnt, Day 2

On day 2 of Lessons Learnt before turning 24, Everyone does life at their own pace, you don’t need to go any faster or slower. You are your own person.

What does this mean?

I know for a lot of people my age when you look around you all of your friends are at different stages in their life. Some have started a full time career in their dream jobs, others have jobs that are seeing them through for now, some have hopped on a plane never to return, or maybe to return but no idea when, some have houses, a mortgage, nice cars, even nicer lifestyles you could only dream about, and some even have children. I found this whole thing really, really intimidating. It made me wonder if I am at a successful place in my life. But so many people have also said to me that your story is your own, and

right now you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

It doesn’t matter about anyone else and what or how they’re doing in their journey. You’re on a different path, and that is SO important to keep in mind.

I want a career in Crisis & Disaster management or Hotel Management, I want to travel the world, come back and get a house and get my career going, get a dog and worry about children later. Thats ME. I shouldn’t need to look at others and look at my life and compare because it isn’t healthy. I didn’t want to start my career before I left for Australia because I was afraid I’d never go if I did. AND THAT IS OKAY. That’s okay if i’m behind my friends in kicking off my career. At the end of the day I’m totally happy where I am in my life and with what I’m doing. I know what I want, and I’ll go for it when I’m ready or it will come to me when the time is right.

And thats something I believe is important for everyone to remember. Don’t compare your life to others, you’re on your own journey figuring out your life in your own way, on your own path and ON YOUR TERMS. Don’t let anyone dictate you or tell you where you need to be. They’re not in control of your life. You are.

So embrace where you are now. Things can change so quickly, especially with how the world is right now. So just enjoy where you’re at, in the words of Zayn Malik’s twitter bio;

Just close your eyes and enjoy the rollercoaster that is life.

Birchbox – April Goodies!

Birchbox -September (& May, Surprise!) Products.

Best believe it has taken me whole month to get this far.

I ordered my September Birchbox at the start of month and was super excited until I received my October box, in October, and never received my September box! Baffled, dazed, confused and after endless complaining to Birchbox and slamming them on twitter later cause I’m a frustrated gyal after 3 emails, they pulled through.

YA GIRL GOT 2 FOR THE PRICE OF 1 TO SAY SORRY, so for this I will be going through BOTH boxes for y’all. Naturally I either wanted the month refunded or something nice but to receive 2 boxes was pretty badass so I was uber happy.

So I received a September Box and a May box!

So many goodies to go through and show you all, I can’t wait to use them!

The reason I decided now I am working full time to get Birchboxes was because when I was at Uni I really felt like I lost complete and utter care of my own self care and beauty regimes, I am really excited to get back into looking after myself a whole lot more.

September 2019 Box!

For starters I love the motivational quotes that are on the top of all the products when you slide the boxes open. September’s Quote was short and sweet!

I definitely tear the front of the product booklets off for them to go on my wall. I have already rippe Octobers in Half so that will be a fun blog post to (try to) write! SO the products in September’s box were all about nurturing your skin a little more!

1. Benefit Cosmetics, Posietint!

You can put this tint on your lips and cheeks! To receive a benefit product as well in these boxes is awesome considering their value! Now I’m not usually one to use tint so I am unsure of how this will look but hey, next time I’m out I am definitely ready to give this a go! – RRP £15.50.

2. Generation Clay Brightening Face Mask

‘Favourite Face Mask’ of the Birchbox Beauty Awards 2019! – RRP 28.50.

3. Marcelle Micellar Water

I used this yesterday to take of my make up and the Aloe in this product is so FRESH. The best part is this being Rinse-free, I am really specific and simple when it comes to make-up and routines. “Strip things back to basics and forget our lengthy skincare routine” and they are not lying with this, mega impressed! only downside was I got some in my eye and it really hurt but thats my own stupidity because who opens their eyes while taking of mascara huh? Me. – RRP £18.00

4. Number 4 Comb,Prep and Protect

I used this one on Monday and man my hair smelt fresh and soft and it even brought my waves back. I found since starting work they disappeared along with my hair care routine so i felt really good the next day seeing the difference which is rare! – RRP £26.25

5. Baija Body Cream

MAN THIS SMELLS SO DAMN GOOD and even feels amazing on my skin! – RRP £15.90

May 2019 Box!

Huge thank you once again to Birchbox for sending this box to me, I received my September Birchbox and this May Birchbox! (After my October one). This box had an lovely quote inside which made me excited to travel;

1. Lord & Berry Eye Pencil

I SWEAR by eyeliner, so to get this eye pencil was amazing as I can never have enough, I get through at least 1 a month. – RRP £13.00.

2. Lottie London Blush Crush

This one was Full Size! Which is awesome for my make up bag and always appreciated. This one pigmented really well on my skin, I did try this for dinner last night and it was really lovely. – RRP £4.95.

3. Beautaniq Nourishing Mascara

Again like the eyeliner, I use mascara religiously. This is also pocket size so I brought it to work with me and now it lives happily in my handbag! – RRP £12.00

4. Mimitika SPF 50 Suncream

As cute as this one Is I live in England, I’ll keep this one for my holidays and travelling! I am excited to use this as I cant use a lot of sun creams due to my skin being so sensitive but this one is “free from harmful ingredients!” – RRP £17.50

5. Philip Kingsley Elasticizer

A pre-pre shower ritual to go by, I am so excited to get into these new hair products for before and after to make my hair healthier. – RRP £9.50.

So that is my May & September boxes all wound up!

I am very excited to try all these new things, Uni really made me lose sight of my self care routines so Im really excited to start feeling that little more human and pampered again.

Tune in for October’s Birchbox This weekend!
