The Lifestyle Ladies Collaboration: What I’ve Watched Throughout Lockdown!

Hey! Welcome back to Wanderer and Traveller, this isn’t a permanent return but I will be returning soon!

I am BACK with a collaboration post with the wonderful Lifestyle Ladies and we are going to be writing about this month what we’ve all been watching through lockdown! I’ve watched so many things its actually been really hard to narrow it down to such a small list, but these are some of my favourite and most watched over Lockdown! Some being feel good shows, to live shows, sport and action packed series. So let’s get into it!

Formula 1: Drive To Survive

“The drivers, managers and team owners in Formula 1 live life in the fast lane — both on and off the track. This docuseries gives viewers exclusive, intimate access to the people in one of the world’s greatest racing competitions. “Formula 1: Drive to Survive” reveals the true story of the high-octane sport, which goes beyond the fight to be No. 1. There’s also a battle for the heart, soul and direction of the multibillion-dollar business. Storylines include changes that a team undergoes after an ownership change and the pressure felt to outperform other drivers.”

Now this for me deserves to be at the top because it ignited something in me for the sport that is Formula 1 that I never realised as I never watched it, and that is that I LOVE IT. I Caught a glance of a bit of an episode when I visited home that got my attention, when I came home to my man I said I’d love to give it a go. And hey presto, we now both follow Formula 1 avidly, trying to watch all the races, following the leaderboards, alp times, drivers and the behind the scenes bits. The Netflix show really opened my eyes to this crazy world, the G force and the training the drivers undergo, the CRASHES (Unreal), the technology within the cars, not to mention the DRAMA. I NEVER thought Formula 1 could be so BEEFY. A highly addictive series that I recommend definitely (and there are some wonderfully handsome men throughout if that also takes your fancy).

Benidorm

“Set in the popular Spanish seaside resort of Benidorm, this comedy series follows a group of British holidaymakers as they soak up the sun and spend their hard-earned cash on the Mediterranean coast. Staying at the Solana, a selection of guests including couples and young families make the most of their time abroad, as they relax by the hotel’s swimming pool and enjoy meals and evening entertainment in the resident restaurant and bar. Everything doesn’t always go to plan however, with hilarity awaiting around every corner.”

I will always watch Benidorm. Something about this show makes me feel all warm inside. Its your typical British families on holiday in Benidorm following their drama and hilarious takes on life. Its a feel good and easy to watch show, although not for everyone! My man can’t stand it. But it makes me feel happy and relaxed when I don’t want to watch anything too heavy.

Greenhouse Academy

“Students at elite Southern California boarding school The Greenhouse must work together to conquer challenges after uncovering an evil plot.”

This was a recommendation from one of my girlfriends, and it did not disappoint. Definitely a young adult program, but did I care? With a storyline that intense? Absolutely I did NOT. I loved this show, super easy watching, episodes were only 20 minutes long and it was also so tense! Something was always happening with these kids it was mad. I watched all the series in less than a week, its totally addictive. Some of it can be quite cringe, but I wouldn’t have expected anything less from a show like this!

Below Deck & Below Deck Mediterranean

“This reality series profiles a group of young people who work aboard yachts that measure well over 100 feet long. The crew members, known as yachties, live aboard the luxurious, privately owned vessels while making sure that their demanding clients’ ever-changing needs are met. The yachties share a passion for a job that allows them to visit some of the world’s most beautiful places. Each episode features a different group of passengers — ranging from millionaires to hard-partying friends — as they head out for a marine adventure. The crews live by the “work hard, play harder” motto that gives them access to exotic perks few people get to experience.”

I started watching these series on Netflix and Amazon before they stopped releasing the series for free due to its sudden rising popularity. Now You have to pay to watch them on Amazon which is a shame but I’d argue it’s totally worth it. It’s an insight into that super yacht life and what it’s like to work on these yachts. It looks like hard work, a lot of pressure. Not to mention living with the same people and working in such a confined and high intensity environment, I take my hat off to them because I would absolutely crack. But due to this, it does make for incredibly dramatic reality TV and I am so here for it. Hannah will always be my girl, if you know, you know.

The Circle USA

“In this lighthearted and strategic competition series, the players must choose whether to be themselves or other people all while chasing a cash prize.”

I started watching the American version first because its based on the UK Version. I was like If I like the American version I’ll love the UK Version. TOTALLY HOOKED. COULD NOT STOP WATCHING. The concept itself is amazing, the drama, the ones who are themselves and the ones who are catfishes. Its unreal, and when they do all finally get to meet after living behind the Circle profile and screen for 2/3 weeks it’s intense for sure! Makes you question a lot of things about social media too, whats real and whats not. Another great reality TV hit thats easy watching.

Jack Ryan

“Author Tom Clancy introduced the character of Jack Ryan in a series of books before Ryan headed to the big screen in several films. Now the former U.S. Marine is featured in an episodic series for the first time, with John Krasinski portraying Ryan in this Amazon original thriller that centers on Ryan as an up-and-coming CIA analyst. He is thrust into a dangerous field assignment for the first time and uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication. That launches him into the middle of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.”

I put off watching this show for AGES because I wasn’t convinced it would be any good. That and I can’t see John Krasinski as anyone else other than Jim from The Office (Another Elite show). I was definitely taken aback when I realised just how good this show was. Intense, gripping and action packed it certainly didn’t disappoint. We watched both series in the space of 2 weeks. although after 2 episodes I found I needed a break I was so tense.

Hanna

“Hanna is an extraordinary girl who has been raised in the forest, evading the relentless pursuit of an off-the-book CIA agent. This series — part high-concept thriller, part coming-of-age drama — follows the girl on her journey as she tries to unearth the truth behind who she is. “Hanna” is based on the 2011 film of the same name that starred Oscar-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan in the title role.”

I LOVED the film. So I felt it was only right to see how they staged the series in comparison to the film, and arguably I enjoyed the series a lot more. The actors were better, there was much more attention to detail within the storyline and it was generally really enjoyable. Fast paced and action packed again, I was absolutely addicted. Not to mention the release of series two. There was only one film, so it was interesting to see where they went after series one because series two was completely a solo series with no comparison and I found it JUST AS GOOD. you can watch this on Amazon. They also have the option to watch the film on there.

So these have been some of the programs I’ve been watching to keep myself busy during lockdown! I’m not really a movie person, so I’m sorry if i let you down on that front! But don’t forget to check out the girls recommendations on their blogs also with their links below!
