Exploring Paris – Day 3, Sent home by Covid-19.

Day 3 we woke up very aware of the situation.

Although we didn’t let it dampen our moods or our experience we decided, especially with family calling and messaging us as well urging us to come back, it was time to go home to the UK a day earlier than anticipated at the risk of being locked down in Paris, France.

Luckily with our breakfast goodies we bought the day before we enjoyed our Brunch in the hotel room and a relaxed morning before getting all packed up and heading back to the centre. We still had one more stop before heading to Gard Du Nord.

Walking down the streets of Le Defense to the tube stations were unusual as everything was closed and everything was very quiet. When we arrived at the tube station no one was in sight but this was the cheapest way to get back into the centre for us and we didn’t mind. This made it easier to manoeuvre with our cases.

We then arrived at the Eiffel Tower! I wanted to just at least walk past it, underneath it, take a picture, SOMETHING. So I was very grateful that Brad let me do this. We sat in the park below the Eiffel tower and ate what little food we had left and a quick smoke break to then head across to the Gard Du Nord Station. The Eiffel tower was just as beautiful and impressive as the pictures. I was so happy I got to see it and sit underneath it and enjoy the weather before we left. The park itself was busy and there were people everywhere. It was a lovely atmosphere.

They were very good when we arrived at Gard Du Nord and stated we had tickets for tomorrow but would like to leave a day earlier. The gentleman serving us seemed slightly confused and asked us why we were leaving early which shocked me. I did think that this would be obvious and I knew were certainly weren’t the first ones today to request a train home today. Brilliantly we managed to get the next train out!

16:10pm we left Gard Du Nord on the Eurostar home a day early. It was still an absolutely amazing trip. I loved every second of it and spending quality time with my man, the best birthday present a girl could ask for. The fact everything was closed museums and viewpoint wise was no let down or bummer and didn’t influence the trip negatively. If anything it made me want to go back once this is all over do everything we couldn’t do properly.

Watch out Paris. We’ll be back!

Where in the world are you located?

I live in a sleepy little town in Cheshire in the UK. It is picture perfect and we absolutely love it here. Formatively, I have lived in many counties through out the UK due to my Fathers job. In fact this is the longest I have ever stayed in one place! 9 years and counting, for the first time in my life, I have a house that feels like my forever home. 

What is lockdown regulations like there? 

As I am shielding due to an on going argument with that thing known as The Big C, my lockdown regulations have been very strict. I have been unable to leave my home for over 10 weeks. This proves interesting when trying to homeschool 3 kiddies who want nothing more than to do fun stuff and play out with their friends! It turns out I am a terrible teacher, as they are students!

How are you keeping busy?

As a Mum of 3, I never have the time to keep busy! It is constantly a mad house, full of chaos, but most importantly full of love. On the upside, when we have been attempting homeschooling, it has given me the opportunity to think, create and write for my blog and side hustles. I have also taken on an absurd amount of DIY tasks, in the genuine belief we would be bored if we hadn’t got plenty to do. The reality of it is I don’t have time to be bored nor time to get everything done! Who knew how short 10 weeks really were when there was a mountain of things to do on The List of Doom.

What do you miss doing the most?

Having coffee with my girlfriends. In all the years of friendship I have been fortunate to amass with my besties, I have never had to go so long without seeing them. I struggle with zoom/facetime interactions as I find them stunted if there are more than a couple of people on them. I can’t wait to go for a walk with my pooch and a cuppa with my besties. 

What is the first thing you’re going to do once lockdown is over?

Spend time by myself! It turns out I am a very solitary person, and I am really struggling being in a house full of lunatics 24/7. I can’t wait to drop the kiddies back to school (hopefully in September!) and enjoy the silence of the car journey home. Then I am driving straight to my aforementioned besties house for a long over due hug! Turns out for a loner, I really enjoy a cuddle.

  • Where in the world are you located?

Hello! I’m writing to you from Delhi, India.

  • What are lockdown restrictions like there?

India has seen one of the largest lock down in the world for a little more than 2 months. The lockdown initially started for 15 days and then iterative was extended four more times – it has been named lockdown 1.0 iteratively till lockdown 4.0 jokingly. At that time, the entire country was shut down except for essential items or industries that could continue to work from home. It was not allowed to step outside unless you’re getting yourselves essentials or have an emergency. If you wanted to go out or move to a different part of the country, you had to issue yourself a pass by the government and your only bet was to drive yourself since metro, rail, air and bus transport was also shut down. 

But now since the 1st of June, the country has re-opened. The business is back to normal – restaurants, shopping malls are open, so are all modes of transportation. All of this while still maintaining social distancing, use of masks and sanitizers. People are still advised to stay at home and only go out if necessary. 

  • How are you keeping busy?

I am a software developer by profession and I’m grateful that my job allows me to work from home. It’s been 3 months and counting since I’m working from home and since it’s a full time job, it demands most of my time. In the late evenings, I tend to work on my blog and have been loving how it’s turning out.

  • What do you miss doing the most?

I miss a lot of things!

I miss working alongside my co-workers. Working remotely has been tough and skype calls constitute most of my time when it was just easier to go over someone’s desk and get the work done. Whiteboard brainstorming was easier than trying to draw on the screen – all of this was just quicker to get things done. Now in addition to that, I also feel there is a blur between the work life and personal life because we are still at home? I see myself working longer hours which isn’t good.

I miss going out for a brunch with my friends or a dinner date under the moonlight. I miss going out to have a pizza party or catch up with my friends as we dance the night away. I miss going out to get essentials without having to wait for my turn outside or wearing a mask everywhere I go. I miss going out without the fear of a deadly disease.

  • What is the first thing you’re going to do once the lockdown is over?

Technically, the lock down is over in India but I still haven’t stepped outside of my home. The cases here are increasing at an alarming rate and we are now the fourth most affected country in the whole world! But when things get alright, I would love and catch up with my friends over lunch/dinner. I haven’t seen them in months and video calls don’t do enough justice.

  • Where in the world are you located?

I’m in Houston, Texas in the United States

  • What are lockdown regulations like there?

Like some of the other bloggers, our restrictions vary wildly by what part of the country you live in. It has been very strange lately. Texas started out kind of okay and that devolved pretty quickly. For example, at the time of writing I think bars and restaurants and that type of thing can choose to open up to maybe 75% capacity. Masks are encouraged by the city and county government, but the state governor struck down ordinances at the city level saying masks were required. At this point it’s really up to the business whether they enforce any rules. The current city and state governments are polar opposites politically, so that’s made for some confusing directions.

It’s a bit unnerving to see tons of people without masks. Our medical center is estimating if the growth rate continues, we’ll be out of bed space in a matter of weeks, which is concerning. But at the same time, I appreciate that businesses are starting to open again so people can work and get paid. Right now, I’m wearing a mask when I go to shop, but not when I’m exercising. My wife and I are both back to work in shifts, and it just feels like many people are leaning towards “oh yeah COVID-19 is over” or thinking that the risk is worth being able to do whatever they’d like. 

  • How are you keeping busy?

So much, honestly! As of a few weeks ago, we’ve started back to work in shifts. I’m going into lab in the mornings for about four hours, then coming home and doing other work from there.

I’ve started up my leadership coaching services on the side, and have been leaning heavily into that, having picked up a few clients in the last two months. I’ve loved working with them so far. (If there’s a time to plug a service, I’ll take the opportunity here. I’m a trained leadership coach working on my next credential, so if you’re reading this and interested in building up your leadership skills, please reach out!) 

I’m also leaning very heavily into exercise; since about mid-March I’ve been working out for at least 30 minutes every single day, and I feel fantastic!

I did take a little break from my blog, and I’ve struggled with some motivation on that front, but I’m getting back into it soon. But I’m well on my way to completing my Duolingo Italian catalog!

Finally, we bought a house! We’ve been getting a lot of the paperwork and utilities and such squared away for that, as well as bingewatching Fixer Upper

  • What do you miss doing most?

Socializing, which sounds a little silly because we’re so busy that we don’t socialize every single opportunity. But my wife and I have largely interacted with just each other save for a few co-workers. It’s been great for our marriage to connect day-to-day, but it’s also nice to spend time with friends. We recently happened to see a couple friends of ours out and decided to grab a couple drinks with them, thinking we’d spend an hour or two maximum. We ended up spending over five hours with them without realizing it. 

  • What is the first thing you’re going to do once lockdown is over?

Plan a trip! My wife and I were each supposed to take trips this summer and another one together in the fall, and those obviously didn’t happen. We’re thinking Japan for the winter, although that although could fall through if we have another big wave. Other than trips, get ready for our new home! We’ll be moving, decorating, and getting furniture and all that fun stuff.

The Global Quarantine Diaries – Amber

Hey everyone, my name is Amber and I run a lifestyle blog called The Unpredicted Page, where I give out my life advice, I talk about health and beauty and I also throw in my blogging tips that I have learnt along the way. I am so excited to get stuck into answering the questions given to me by Jessie! 

Where in the world are you located? 

I live In the UK in the Midlands. So, I am literally as far away from the sea and the beaches as possible. I am currently staying in lockdown with my parents, so I moved back to their home. 

What are the lockdown regulations like there? 

We are currently allowed to see up to 6 friends whilst staying two metres apart. I have been able to see my boyfriend for a walk after 10 weeks of not being able to see each other so that lifted my spirits. I only leave the house for exercise I try and go for a walk each day. My mum does the food shopping as only one person is allowed in the shop at a time for each household, so she is only leaving the house to do that. 

How are you keeping busy? 

So, I am someone who likes to keep busy. I actually started my blog at the beginning of lockdown as so I would have something, I could occupy myself with. I even decided to write a post about the positives of lockdown where I gathered people’s opinions on the situation. I am someone who always needs to be doing something, so starting a blog was the best thing I could have done I am absolutely loving it so far. 

I have also been getting back into reading which I have been loving. I am currently reading PS, I Love you – I recommend! Then last but not least, I have really gotten into paint by numbers. I bought one off amazon and it is taking a long time, but it is so relaxing. There are so many different designs so I will hopefully be getting more of them to try out. 

What do you miss doing the most?

I miss getting dressed up and putting my makeup on and feeling good. I have worn makeup once in the past 11 weeks on lockdown due to the fact I left all my makeup in my flat in a different city to where I am staying for lockdown. So, I had to borrow my sister’s makeup. So when this is over I cannot wait to stay dressing up again and having a reason to get dressed up. 

What is the first thing you are going to do once the lockdown is over? 

The first thing I want to do when lockdown is over is to move out to live with my boyfriend. I cannot wait to have my own space. Being able to spend time decorating the place will be so exciting. So that is something I am looking forwards to.

Where are you located?

1. I’m in Ireland.

What is lockdown like where you are?

2. Lockdown is slowly lifting here. Phase 1 was basically that we should stay home except for essential workers and grocery shopping, and people shouldn’t travel more than 2km from their home (unless its for work and they have proof incase they get stopped). Phase 2 is just started so they’re relaxing the rules a little. Smaller shops are opening and restaurants like McDonalds are open for Drive Thru orders.

How have you been keeping busy during Lockdown?

3. I’ve been so busy! I was very busy before this, but since my part-time job has been closed I’ve been appreciating the time to focus on passion projects like music and creative writing. I’ve also had more time for cleaning up my blogs. I haven’t actually spent much time on Disney Plus or Netflix at all.

What do you miss the most?

4. I miss being able to get coffee with my friends and eating out.

Whats the first thing you’ll do after lockdown?

5. The first thing I’ll do is realistically go back to work, but outside of that, I’ll probably have a night out with my friends when it’s safe to do so.

Global Quarantine Diaries – Lulu

Lockdown in the USA has been one of the weirdest things I’ve experienced. It went from everyone joking about the pandemic, to horrific death tolls, back to a joke, and now we’re all protesting. It’s been a rollercoaster and a very difficult time for its citizens. The world watched us as we handled COVID-19 poorly and in the coming months, I am worried to see the lasting effects especially during the second wave. However, we as people, are resilient and hopeful. I hope the USA can learn from its mistakes during the second wave and act accordingly. 

Where in the world are you located? 

Charlotte, NC, USA 

What are lockdown regulations like? 

Lockdown regulations differed from state to state. For example, if Florida’s governor decided that they would stay open, they had the right to. But, in North Carolina, lockdown began on March 17th. Initially, it began by closing businesses unless they were essential (logistics, grocery stores, healthcare, restaurants for takeout, etc.) so, many people lost their jobs. Regulations included no gatherings of more than 10 people, unessential travel should be avoided, or it could result in a misdemeanor charge or fine (but that was never enforced), and social distance as much as possible. Going on walks, and being outdoors was encouraged but all the state parks, and trails closed down. Then we started reopening in phases by May 14th. “Phase 1” included parks and recreation to open up, retail businesses opened up at half capacity, and childcare facilities opened for essential workers. We are currently in “Phase 2” for another 3-5 weeks which means that restaurants opened up at half capacity, stay at home orders were lifted, and people are allowed to gather up to 25 people outside. Once “Phase 3” goes into effect, essentially all restrictions will be lifted, and normal life can continue. 

How are you keeping busy? 

During lockdown, I took a walk every day. Lockdown was an extremely depressing time and so hard to adjust to. I am a social person that thrives off of interaction with other people, so it was difficult. So, to combat those feelings, I ran/walked a trail by my house every day. I was so excited the first time I saw someone else passing on the trail and we got to say “Hi” to each other. Other than that, I cleaned just about everything you can imagine. Even the little crevices of my drawers. As expected, Netflix and every other streaming platform became my best friend. I watched a full TV series in a day once. Now that we’re in “Phase 2”, I am back to working. I am a bartender/server at a restaurant, and we are open at half capacity. I am required to wear a mask and gloves but the fear of getting Coronavirus sits in the back of my head every minute. I am happy to be back doing something productive and purposeful but with that comes so much anxiety. After the second week of being open, it doesn’t really seem like many people care about the pandemic. I’ve heard one too many jokes about it and my restaurant gradually became busier and busier. Life is starting to look normal here in North Carolina as people disregard the threat of COVID-19. 

What do you miss doing the most? 

The thing I miss doing the most is traveling. When I’m working, I have a lot of flexibility so over the weekends, I like to take trips to the mountains, the beach, and other big cities in North Carolina or surrounding states. It’s been stressful to feel so restricted however it is warranted and necessary. I can’t wait to visit friends and see new things. I also miss going for a night out and being able to have fun with my friends carefree. It won’t happen now, but in time, it will happen again. 

What is the first thing you’re going to do once lockdown is over? 

The first thing I’m going to do when lockdown is over is have a beer with my friends at my favorite dive bar. There’s nothing more comforting than sitting on the porch of a bar with a beer in your hand day-drinking. While technically, I am allowed to do this at this stage in North Carolina’s reopening, I am trying to take more precautions about going out unless necessary considering I am now working in a restaurant and potentially exposing myself more frequently. It’s difficult to see everyone out and about but the pandemic hasn’t halted just because the economy needed to reopen.

Global Quarantine Diaries – Jessie (Me!).

Hello!

I am Jessie and welcome to my blog and my instalment in the Global Quarantine Diaries! To say I’ve enjoyed this time it would be a solid 50/50 split. I’ve loved being furloughed of work and having time to myself and to get organised but I’ve also been ever so slightly stir crazy with cabin fever. I can’t wait to get back to work, to see my girlfriends and family, going to the gym, my god I MISS THE GYM.

Where in the world are you located?

I am living in England in a small village in-between Cambridge and Milton Keynes.

What are Lockdown regulations like there?

Lockdown regulations here have been implemented and are very strict as it should be to prevent the spreading of the virus.

Stay alert

We can all help control the virus if we all stay alert. This means you must:

  • Stay at home as much as possible
  • Work from home if you can
  • Limit contact with other people
  • Keep your distance if you go out (2 metres apart where possible)
  • Wash your hands regularly

Do not leave home if you or anyone in your household has symptoms.

These are the main rules and regulations that have been implemented during our lockdown. We are now currently in Phase 1 (I think). In honesty I’ve been trying to stay on top of what is what but I’m trying to not keep too much of an eye on it, it isn’t good for my mental health, my family can keep me updated on the important bits of what we can and can’t do which I appreciate a lot.

How are you keeping busy?

I am trying to keep myself busy every day as I find I really lose the will and get cabin fever if I don’t keep myself amused. So What have I been doing?

  1. Reading! – I used to read when I was younger all the time, all day every day when I could. Once I hit sixth form college and university I completely fell off it. I only ever picked up a text book that was relevant to my uni or college work and that was it. It wasn’t until my final year of uni I started reading again thanks to Majelle leaving a load of books here as she couldn’t take them back to Canada. That was it, I was off, I started slowly and now with lockdown I’ve read at least 19 books in the past two months and it has been amazing. Outside of lockdown and in total i’ve read 26 books this year and I absolutely love fantasy fiction. It made me realise just how much I missed reading a GOOD BOOK and there are so many I had been missing out on just because I couldn’t be bothered or found something on Netflix to binge watch instead. I even booted up my 2012 Paperwhite kindle which still works a dream and have been using it religiously. Its also so lovely to pass the time and also really helps with my anxiety.
  2. Working out! – I’ve tried to work out or run as often as possible. Im a bit of gym bunny so when they closed the gyms (which was of course a wise choice in the current states) I was a bit stumped. Running is hard with my achilles pain but its been well worth it for my weight and mental health. I’ve been following the likes of Joe Wicks on YouTube and doing DANCE workouts! I can’t even dance I have 2 left feet but my god am I SWEATING whenever I finish up! I feel it helps me get through the day a bit easier and allows me to eat all the cakes I make. I also enjoy walking, having the dog is helpful as we go on regular dog walks, I love going at sunset as its the best time of the day.
  3. Baking – If anyone knows me they know I despise cooking. But lockdown has helped me realise I love making desserts. I’ve got a speciality Victoria Sponge cake down and we’ve made cupcakes and brownies in tow! Thats another great way to pass the time!
  4. Blogging & Social Media – This time has been really good to take part in blogging collaborations, getting my blog all organised and posts written, just being able to promote my blog and engage with other bloggers has been so beneficial for me. Keeping my socials up to date has also been a positive.
  5. Spending time with the family – Sunday is a games night in this house! Im in lockdown with my boyfriend, my dad and stepmum. And not forgetting, the doggo! We’ve been cooking dinners, going on walks and bike rides and its been fantastic spending all this time together. Thats what I am really cherishing.
  6. I bought a Nintendo Switch! – So I’ve also been seshing Spyro, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, all of my favourite games on my switch! It was so worth the money and a great bit of kit. If anyone has any game recommendations please do let me know in the comments!
  7. Learning French! – Thats right, I’ve decided to teach myself French with Duolingo. I decided on this when we went to Paris and I realised my reading ability of french was actually MUCH better than I had ever imagined. I did French at school for 7 years and didn’t pick it back up in college or uni. I wish I knew another language so why not take the time now to learn a new language? Its great to pass the time and really push and motivate yourself as well! Its something I am really happy I decided to pick up. I’ve even learn how to flirt in french, Voulez-Vouz dancer aves moi?
  8. Zoom Calling! – Honestly nothing has made me feel more grounded than Zoom chatting my friends every Friday night and Saturday night. It gives me life, a good laugh and a chance to catch up with everyone all over the world and in the UK. Also a good chance to drink. We’ve been playing all sorts of drinking games and also doing a book club as well! It’s just so nice to see everyone and breaks up the week massively.
  9. Binge watching Netflix – I put this one last because I haven’t actually done much of this. Yes I have absolutely watched A LOT of tele but no where near as much as I would have imagined. I guess there is only so much you can sit and watch and I was already watching a lot of Netflix after dinner and before bed with my man. We are watching Outer Banks, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, Brassic (which is FANTASTIC) and Lil Dicky’s new TV Show DAVE. What are you watching at the moment?

What do you miss doing the most?

Honestly I miss my friends. I miss my girlfriends who are in two different directions and distances from my home, and visiting my friends back up in my Uni city. I miss going to the pub for a pint, never again will I take advantage of a beautiful beer garden I will cherish it in my soul. I also miss the gym, nothing compares I find to the motivation I feel to workout in the gym. Once lockdown has started to ease and I feel more confident in myself I know normality will return at one point.

But you know what I miss the most? Travel.

I CANNOT wait to be on a plane again. Visiting places on my bucket list, touring the UK and Europe and more importantly my potential trip to Australia. I can’t wait to hear the words ‘Cabin Crew for boarding’ and “Can I have your passports please?”. I want to go back to exploring. I miss it so so dearly I feel I’ve lost a limb.

Luckily with the current regulations you can have 6 people socially distancing in your back garden which has been a nice change of pace. We met one friend in the park for the afternoon for a social distancing catch up and we also met two other friends for a social distancing kick about. Making sure to be as safe as possible whilst we do it. I miss normality.

What is the first thing you’re going to do once lockdown is over?

Once lockdown is over I am going to go to my hometown on the East Coast and see my mum, sister and my friends down there. Then next on the agenda is spending time with my 3 best girlfriends that I have here in the UK. I miss those girls more than life and we’ve been trying to tour different UK cities together, most recently (Pre Covid-19) Liverpool. So who knows where we will end up next when we do all see each other.

I know it will be a long while until everything is back to normal but I can’t wait to be back to where we were. Back to work. Back to exploring and travelling. Back to Normality!

A Traveller’s Struggles in Quarantine

I’m located in a very small, epically boring town in Northern Ontario. When I moved back home from University I told myself I would be escaping my small town as soon as possible. But like it always does, life happens. I got a job in my field. A job I love. The ‘one summer’ window of being back in my town turned into a year. But I had a plan. I was going to escape. I was going to move as far away as possible. But then Queen Rona took reign.

I’ve always been a traveller. When I was 18, my sister and I took our first backpacking trip around Europe. God it’s insane to look at 18-year-olds now and think about how young I really was when I did that. We blew all of our money in our first country, England, by going to Harry Potter attractions. I remember e-mailing my dad something along the lines of “Send money or we starve” one night in Italy after staying in a hostel in the middle of nowhere that gave my sister bedbugs. 

But since that trip I’ve never really stopped travelling. In 2018, I moved to the UK to study abroad at the University of Lincoln. I’d love to say since my first trip to Europe I’d learn to spend my travel budget better, but I’d be lying. While there I booked a week long trip to Greece simply because I was up late with jetlag listening to ABBA songs. Then a girls trip to Norway not long afterwards.

And ever since I lived there I had a burning desire to go back. And so the plan formed in my mind. I’d save enough money with the job I had and move back to the UK the second I felt like it was enough. I was going to escape.

But, like almost everyone’s plans in 2020, that will have to wait.

So here I am, quarantining in a town I despise waiting for the day the borders open up again. 

It’s a hard time for travellers.

But I have to say, this time has given me reason to see the best in my town. Being in Canada during this pandemic is already a thing to be grateful for. Though I’m one of the few lucky ones who has been able to keep her job but work remotely, Canada has been good to its citizens by providing so many subsidies and financial aid to those in need. 

And there’s an even better part about being in this small town in Canada that quarantine has made me understand: just how beautiful it is. I’m able to hike every single day. My small town probably has around 30 known hiking trails in it, and being able to be out in the fresh air has kept me sane. There’s lakes my dog can swim in. Rivers to canoe in. Sun to soak up.

In the end, it may be a hard time in life to be a traveller, but what’s helped is to act like a traveller in my hometown. It’s the time to explore what’s around you and gain a new appreciation for things. I may adore Europe, but I can think of no other place I’d want to be in quarantine than in Canada with my family.

The Global Quarantine Diaries – Abbie

Quarantine in Canada / Abbie!

If we are to take anything away from all of this chaos, I hope it’s a better understanding of the unpredictability of life. It’s always a good thing to have a plan but, with that said, without flexibility, you’re setting yourself up for heartbreak. 

“Quarantine Where I’m From” 

I live in Southern Ontario, Canada (Toronto/Niagara Falls), where we are currently in “Stage 1” of reopening. From what I’ve seen, I don’t think quarantine in Ontario is too outrageously different from quarantine in the states or the UK. Social distancing rules have been enforced which, of course, include staying at home, not visiting with friends, and avoiding any non-essential outings. Although it looks like some of the rules are letting up and we may be on the road to re-opening, I am bit worried about the ominous second wave that many are predicting. Collectively, universally, we would all love for COVID-19 to be over, to see our friends, and engage in the social activities we miss, but I hope these steps to reopen don’t cost us more casualties than necessary. 

“How I Keep Busy” 

Personally, Netflix has consumed my life, Grey’s Anatomy more specifically. Apart from that I’ve been doing a lot of baking, and art, or whatever comes to me really. I make lots of plans to be productive and take this time to work on my future, but that all just seems unnecessary considering the end of quarantine is not yet in sight. Stress management was something I needed to focus on before we even knew about COVID-19, so I think taking this time to focus on different management strategies would be the most useful way to spend my time and improve life after quarantine. 

“What I Miss” 

Around this time I would usually be getting together with my friends from my hometown, welcoming summer and celebrating our survival of the previous school year. This year I graduated from university so naturally I had some plans for celebrating. I did have plans to travel so I am missing the airport and my travel buddies. Turns out the travel bug never goes away. There’s plenty to be missed but most of all, it’s not being able to see my friends and family that gets me down. I love my alone time but it is a difficult change not being able to visit and chat in person with those I care about. 

“First Thing I’ll Do When Lockdown is Over” 

Look into plane tickets. I hate to say it because I know there’s lots of other important things I should be thinking about in regards to my future, my career, and life as a university graduate, but I am just so excited to travel again. I think once life goes back to the way it was I will be more than eager to plan a trip and see more of the world. 

This situation is not ideal, our lives have been uprooted and it feels like the solid ground we all stand on has been ripped from under us. However, we are healing. This is a hard reset, it is time to rebuild, start thinking about the life you are living/want to live, and focus on healing.
