My London Bucket List – Part 16, Mock The Week

The second to last post on My London Bucket List Saga! How sad!

This chapter will only be a short one as well, I just has to share the experience! Nearing the end of our placements Brad managed to win two tickets to take us to see Mock The Week!

For those who don’t know what Mock The Week is, it’s a panel show on TV where there are 6 comedian panelists and Dara O’Briain is the panel host. The panelists will spend the majority of the show looking at different segments of the news that week and make jokes about the apparent news. It’s just a really fun and funny experience to be in the audience and watch the show be filmed.

My favorite segment of the show is called “Scenes we’d like to see”. Where the panelists stand opposite each other 3 on each side and a topic is displayed on the board behind. Things like “Things you won’t hear on the evening news” or “what actually happened in these kids TV shows”.

IMG_20180626_221148_458-1.jpgThey are endlessly funny. Because we also won tickets to ‘8 out of 10 cats’ but didn’t get there in time due to traffic it meant the next tickets we were offered we got priority! So we were sat right at the front for Mock the Week, it was awesome and we met a lovely couple sat with us too.

Before we went to see Mock The Week we headed through Westfield’s at Shepard’s Bush. Personally I thought the one in Stratford was impressive. UNTIL I came to that Westfield’s.

It was MORE than impressive and so much bigger and nicer than the one in Stratford. Although we couldn’t do any shopping as we were skint, we did have a good look around! The Tesla shop was my favorite, ONE DAY I SHALL OWN A TESLA.

We stopped for some dinner in Tortilla, for some Mexican food! Never eaten in a Tortilla before so I will definitely recommend it for future quick meals, I had Quesadillas and they were SO GOOD.

Once we had chowed down we headed out of Westfield’s to towards the BBC Film Studios! It’s a really awesome area, the atmosphere is really nice and the organisation of the event was really good. We were in and seated within a couple of minutes which was really great.

The panel is made up of 6 comedians! So for this episode of the show we had Desiree Burch, Hugh Dennis who is a team captain and my all time favourite. Milton Jones, Ed Burns, Angela Barnes and Glenn Moore!

It was a really awesome experience I would definitely suggest trying to get tickets for these events if you rate panel shows! You can get the tickets through SRO Audiences online! Its reliable and means you get to see the panel shows that you want to see, you just apply for tickets and see if you get lucky!

10 Things to Remember When Going Back To or Starting University!

So here are my Top 10 Things to remember when heading back to uni or you’re starting unversity fresh!

I’ve just moved into my new flat for my final year of university, 4 years! My Lord, it’s been absolutely awesome though. I wouldnt change anything about it. I am just excited to graduate now!

I was supposed to post this blog post a little earlier but alas from my flight from Budapest my ears didn’t pop properly. So now I have an ear infection and a lil bit of vertigo because of it, so I’m more dizzy than I am concious!

But I’ve percevered today! Especially as I start my new Job tomorrow too. So today I’ve got shit done, including this post for you all! Can spend my whole week wallowing in self pity.

So WITHOUT further ado, here are my Top 10 Things to Remember When starting or Going back to University!

  1. Get Organised – folders, stationary, books, your time table. Know it learn it live by it. I always find that being organised makes everything SO much easier! Plus when you go into a lecture or start doing coursework or seminar work and you’re organised it’s just that much easier to get started and get your head down! Something which at Uni can be quite a challenge due to there being a lot of distractions.
  2. Do Not Panic – I had to swear by this saying in first year. Just do not panic. It is solvable, you can do it. Even if it’s something you’ve never come across before, don’t panic about it. Uni is probably one of the most relaxed but also the most stressful places, but you do not need to panic. Help is always at hand.
  3. Be Positive, Be You – it’s the best you can be! I know a lot of people go back to uni or start uni thinking “oh Lord this isn’t for me” and do you know, if it isn’t for you? That’s no problem! But as I have said in a previous blog post, university is what you make of it! If you go into the experience being a negative Nelly, like I did, it doesn’t feel like it gets better. I considered dropping out. Now I look back and think why I thought that I will never know. Like I said, it’s what you make of it.
  4. Keep on making friends / Make friends & socialise! – You are quite literally THROWN into this at uni. Your flatmates are ideally your first point of contact. I don’t know about anyone else, but my friends I made at University are my friends for life. No matter how far apart we all are, because we are all from literal opposite ends of the country. They will always be my faves! Now I’m back for my final year, most of my friends are graduating next week (couldn’t be more proud!!!) And then they are all moving away, so I’ve got to remember how to make friends again. But your whole life you’re making friends so it won’t take too long!
  5. Budget! – DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON STUPID SHIT. If you don’t need it don’t buy it. I was a PRO at buying unnecessary things and my overdraft was my best friend. Don’t be me. Plan your food shops and like I said if you don’t need it, don’t buy it. Only take set amounts of money our with on nights out, don’t get happy clappy with your contactless because it will happen and you will wake up the next morning wondering if you bought a horse.
  6. IMG_20180909_160757.jpgDon’t forget a home comfort – For me, when I move Into a new place I have got to have a little home comfort that makes me think of being back in my home town. For me it’s a small hanging sign that says; “Life’s A Beach” as I live by the beach! It’s followed me to every house all 4 years so far and will continue to do so!
  7. Uni help services are your friend – if you are struggling with your work your lecturers are there to help you. Reach out to them. If you are struggling with your mental health the university health centre and welfare will help you. Reach out to them. If you’re Struggling to find rescources for your essays the library staff will help you. Reach out to them. You have a larger issue you want to discuss with the university. REACH OUT, they will not hesitate at all to help you with any of your needs!
  8. Vodka isn’t the answer, but it’s worth a shot – This one speaks for itself really, GET ON THE SESH. But that does also bring us to our next point;
  9. Learn your limits – I don’t think I need to say to much here other than don’t be that friend who needs to get their stomach pumped.
  10. Enjoy it! – Uni is an awesome place, a huge step into adult life and responsibilities with a little bit of heavy drinking on the side! Uni will always be the best years of my life, I don’t doubt it for a second. I mean until I get married n have babies but that’s a looooong time coming. Enjoy your time, you’ll be there for a while! Why do anything else BUT enjoy it?!

So these are the My Top 10 Tips! I hope they give some sort of help and insight into the joys of getting back too or starting university!

Here’s to my final year! Bring it on!

My London Bucket List – Part 15, For This Weeks Beverages? Central London!

Hey everyone, Welcome back to one of the final few episodes left on My London Bucket List!

Just so you are all aware, there will be no Whatever Wednesday Until I return from Budapest on August 31st! I repeat NO Whatever Wednesday, just so you are all updated.

So, lets get on!

This day was a day of a lot of drinking and catching up, it was awesome.

I met up with our family friend Ellie. The last time I saw Ellie I don’t even think I was old enough to drive let alone drink; so being 21 and in the city naturally a catch up was needed with PLENTY of drink! Ellie has been living in London for a while now so she knew all the best spots to have a drink as well.

We met on Oxford Street and made our way to Carnaby Street. I had never been to Carnaby Street but it was on the list! So we had out first drink there at a place called Carnaby Zebrano, a cocktail bar just off Carnaby. It was really lovely.

The sun was shining so we sat outside and we talked about up and coming holidays and how Ellie was going to Ibiza and myself Budapest! As it was a cocktail bar we consumed many. I had a Kiwi Cooler and Strawberry Sensation cocktail and they were as great as they sound.

I could now tick Carnaby Street right of my bucket list as well!

After a good couple of hours spent eating nachos and chatting shit we moved on to a place I’ve wanted to go for ages, Madisons at St Pauls. I know if you watch TOWIE or Made in Chelsea it’s a place you will recognise.

On the sixth floor of a shopping mall beside St Pauls Cathedral, Madisons is a Tapas and Cocktail bar. The view from the top is amazing, especially of the cathedral. When we arrived it was a bottle of Rose for the two of us which went down an absolute treat whilst we continued to catch up on life as we know it.

It’s definitely priced for London. Expensive depending on what you buy. I am used to a £7.50 bottle of Barefoot Rose so you can imagine the difference between that and the £28 bottle we bought! Naturally of course, the photo opportunities were not wasted either on the rooftop!

After being asked to move due to there being a table reservation, probably for some glam Z list star, we made our way out and on to the next place! Walking past St Pauls and over the Millennium Bridge & the Thames, we didn’t get far before we stopped again. Too thirsty!

We ended up literally to the side of the Millennium Bridge at a place called the Founders Arms. It was the time of day where everyone had finished work so it was BEYOND busy, getting a seat inside or on the balcony was an absolute no BUT, there was a gate which lead down to the side of the Thames and naturally as it was low tide, a sit on the sand was on the cards.

img_20180820_133206_151.jpgThe view was great, it was warm and the drinks weren’t that expensive either which made a change! We sat and chatted MORE SHIT like us women do and it was the best day.

After many a Pimms, shoulder sun-burn and so much catching up it could’ve been endless, we called it a day.

It was a great day because I didn’t quite realise I was drunk until I got onto the tube. Thats when it hit me and LORD did it hit me. Brad and James had a good laugh at me when I got in the car in Watford, wasted and sunburnt.

All in all ot was a great day of drinking and catching up with an awesome family friend. Couldn’t have asked for a better day.

  • What’s the one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self?

Don’t panic. There is no need to panic, if you can sort it out in the next 10 days? why worry. If it can be sorted in the next month? why worry. It’ll only make your anxiety worse.

  • Who inspires you the most in life?

My mum. She is an amazing woman. I actually can’t express just how much I love her and how much she inspires me.

  • What is your favourite podcast currently?

I don’t listen to podcasts! Although my boyfriend does and he talked quite highly of them. So I might have to give them a go soon!

  • What is the most important thing in your life?

At the moment? University. I am SO determined to be able to pass this final year and graduate with a good grade.

  • What language would you most like to learn instantly?

SPANISH, DEFINITELY. I live for the language, its just beautiful and sexy all at the same time. I tried to teach myself at one point but I got far too distracted with life. I am considering having proper lessons!

I usually have to tell myself that everything will be fine at least once a day. I also read a lot of quotes that are motivational or make you realise its not all bad. I also write and see family and friends to stay positive.

  • If you could be anything what would you be?

An Author or a real and official Travel Blogger. Thats the dream.

  • You’re hosting a dinner party! You can invite 5 people, dead or alive, who are you inviting and what would you cook for them?
  1. Ariana Grande 2. Dua Lipa 3. The Queen 4. Gordon Ramsey 5. Conor Maynard.

Hopefully the benefit of inviting Ramsey would be that I don’t have to cook, but If I DID. It would be my signature Spaghetti Bolognese because its the only dish I am really good at.

  • What is your favourite book?

The Noughts and Crosses books by Malore Blackman. There are 4 books in the series and they are all phenomenal, I have read them twice! I couldnt put them down. A Close second is the Maze Runner Series too.

  • Where is your happy place, what is it, is it even real or is it a state in your mind?

My happy place is very real. Its the sea. Nothing matters once I am in that water, no matter where we are in the world, rain or shine. I am the happiest girl alive and there is no question about it.

My London Bucket List – Part 12, A Scientific & Pretty Pink Kinda Day

An Odd Mixture right?

Me and Brad had another day out in London! And of course as per usual, it was damn great. This day was a really fun one, we didn’t do too much but we also didn’t do too little!

SO we set off from Watford and headed for Central London, South Kensington to be exact where we could go to the Science Museum!! I had never been to the science museum before and Brad loves all of that kind of stuff which makes it so much more enjoyable.

I love going to London with Brad and knowing that he is enjoying what we are doing as much as I am, that really makes a difference to the trip. Why I always make sure that we do something we can both do, no point in dragging Brad around for no reason. We are good at finding a balance too which makes a difference. Today was definitely a compromise because I wanted to go to Peggy Porchen.

BUT ILL START THAT LATER.

We arrived at the Science Museum and wandered on in. Free entry of course. I LOVE How museums do free entry, so amazing. COME IN FOR FREE EDUCATION, how it should be for things like that!

The Space area on the 1st floor of the museum and the Flight area on the 3rd floor are my favourite areas. Not only is space absolutely fascinating but I also love flying!

My favourite area about the Space section was learning about the astronauts and how they ate, drank, slept and ‘other things’ whilst up in space! I can confirm the space food does look absolutely vile.

35361780_10211335330410853_2245973205216919552_nIt was amazing to learn all these things about space, there was also an area about steam power, the information age which includes how phones and and wifi have adapted and grown, and a section about maths!

The section about Maths was something that I wouldn’t expect. Maths actually goes into so many different creations and different things. I was astounded to find that without maths we would have no architecture. I know thats a pretty well known fact (apparently), but I wasn’t aware, so it was a really fascinating day.

They also have an interactive section where you can play games using your body and remembering the things you’ve learnt from each section. The Science museum really is such an amazing place, and a really amazing day out for any age!

We then headed up to find section of the museum and it was Flight! I love seeing all the old fashioned planes and the difference in planes then and now and its phenomenal to see how much technology has changed! They even had a HUGE cut out piece of a British 35300583_10211335329490830_7419031047167279104_nAirways Boeing 747 Just casually sat at the end of the display!

You could see the luggage, the first floor of seating and then the second floor of seating. You could see all the exposed electronics and whats in where the luggage is stored. It was just fascinating and Brad enjoyed himself too!!

After a good 2 and a half hours, nearly 3 hours wandering around the museum we stayed until it was closing time. Once outside it was a beautiful day and I wanted to go to a particular cafe!

Now for Brad, This was a nightmare.

a12da55ff59969a2f0c3ce72bb281cf1

Peggy Porchen Cakes.

An all pink, all floral, all very photographic and Instagram/Blog worthy. The only condition was that he got to eat and that was definitely good enough for me!

So we headed to Victoria from South Kensington on the tube and it was about a 5 minute walk from Victoria station.

You could see Peggy Porchens from down the road and there were HOARDS of people outside standing and getting pictures and then leaving!! Why would you leave once you had a picture?! LETS GET SOME CAKE AYE.

So Bradders and I sat outside under the flowers and had Tea and Cake! We had a cuppa tea for two and Brad had a Cookie Crumble Cupcake and I had a Biscuit Cake, which was a rocky road cake. Brad loved it really being sat amongst all the pink and flowers.

Of course once we finished our tea and cake I definitely made sure I got my Candid picture outside of the shop to end the day!

It was a great trip, we got back to watford at about 8pm, and ended it with a Beer and a Burger by the station. I love our days out!

More to come soon!

Next up: Hyde Park Nights, 5K runs & 28 flights of stairs for charity!

Airports, what’s not to love?

I couldn’t even begin to tell you why, But I love airports.

I’m lying, I can totally tell you why I love them.

They’re busy, exciting and full of so many different adventures and stories, different walks of life.

For a lot of people the airport is the place from hell, flights being delayed, too many people, disorganisation, security, you name it chances are there is someone out there that dislikes everything about the airport.

A prime example is as I was writing this one of my colleges saw the title and said “everything, everything is not to love”, So I guess he had made his mind up about that pretty quick.

f258fe85835e8f42d5c141ed78cc1330I can’t really say I’ve had many horror stories of the airport at all, just one really. But that certainly did not change my opinion at all. I just think its the atmosphere of the airport, does wonders for me and I have no idea why. (You can read my airport horror story below).

Apart from security, no one likes security, who has time to undress themselves basically completely, shove themselves through a scanner and re dress themselves? Everyone actually as it a necessity, IT JUST TAKES SO DAMN LONG.

But other than that I would say the airport is my fave.

I usually get a lot more excited for the airport than I do that flight or the travel, I cant work out if its the excitement of the fact I am going abroad or just being in a place with lots of energy, energises myself!

I love to splash the cash, jokes I DON’T HAVE ANY. But I love to do Duty Free shopping as well. You’ve got Milka? Great, I will have the lot. Discounted VS? I’m down for new underwear always. Discounted cigarettes and booze? Even better. Duty free is the basic holy grail to be honest and I have a field day each time I am there.

Naturally it is so wonderful to be watching the Arrivals. Family members returning after being away for a while, lots of cuddles and tears. Partners being reunited, ugh it makes me emotional just thinking about it. The airport itself is just So HUGE, and so BUSY. It makes my life practically, its like a mini city inside another city. Judge me.

I’m going to have to go home and watch ‘Arrivals’ On Channel 4 now and cry for a bit.

My Airport Horror Story

So we were flying to South Africa, And it’s not so much a horror story, just a unfortunate turn of events.

So the flight to the SA is 11 and a half hours long. Economy class as always, I love getting as cosy as I can as its a long flight!

Now I don’t ever sleep on planes. Planes, trains, buses you name it I will not sleep, I’m not sure why it is too this day I can just never seem to be comfortable ENOUGH to sleep. So we set off on our flight to South Africa in the evening, it was a night flight due to it being so long.

All is fine for a while, take off etc and we are away! We get about 3 hours into the flight and all of the sudden the lack of cabin crew is actually kind of evident, we were curious as to what was happening as we then saw our server Gavin run through the cabin with a first aid bag.

now FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, I fell asleep on the plane. So the last thing I saw was Gavin and his first aid bag running down the cabin.

I woke up shortly after, Or what I believed was shortly after, it had actually been about 4 hours. So I was pleased, naturally for me that was nearly the whole journey! Or so I though.

We had landed! But not in South Africa. We were on Barcelona Runway at Barcelona Airport.

So I woke up a little confused, I turned to my friend Sam and asked her if we were in Africa. Her response? No.

AS IT TURNED OUT, One of the flight attendants appendix had burst. So we had to make a detour to Barcelona Airport so we could get the gent of the plane to to safety. The gent was sent to the hospital where he was treated correctly and was alright which is definitely a positive for sure!

The only downside for us, the plane and the cabin crew was that we wouldn’t make it to South Africa at our arrival time. This meant for the flight itself we had to head back to the airport, unload the plane and sit in the airport!

We arrived back in Heathrow at 6am in the morning, The compensation was a free Starbucks and That was something I could deal with because the situation was completely out of everyone’s control. And I wanted a cuppa tea and some breakfast as it was early.

They had to do a complete turn over of the plane, they didn’t unload the bags which was good but the plane was completely cleaned and one of the main reasons for the plane to return to Heathrow was the change over period for the air hostesses. I believe they can only fly for so long before they have to change over the teams, which made complete sense as if you’re hostessing on an 11 hour flight and usual shift is 8 hours then having the issue with the flight means that you’ll have to clock off once you land.

But don’t take my word for it, I’m not an air hostess, So I don’t really know shit.

I literally did not move form my position at Starbucks for the whole 5 hours we were waiting to re-board the flight.

FINALLY, at 11am, we were aloud to head back to the terminal and re-board the plane. And then away to South Africa we went! For me it literally made no difference to the holiday, I would’ve been Jet-lagged the day after the flight anyway.

I was just pleased that the gentleman was okay after the predicament!

So that was my Airport Predicament, Whats yours?

The Budapest Bucket List

So Naturally even though I’m not going to Budapest until August, I wanted at least a brief overview of some of the things I wanna see and do!

SUGGESTIONS WELCOME!!!!

I feel like the list is already pretty long but if you all know any places I have missed off then that would be amazing, I’m there for 10 whole days, so that is a lot of sight seeing to get done.
I’m really into the architecture in Budapest because it looks absolutely marvellous and so beautifully done. My wonderful friend Sophie has just been to Budapest and all her photos look amazing and she sounded like she had the best time so its giving me the anticipation I need! I get the feeling its going to be a very aesthetically pleasing visit and this makes me happy. Apparently you can smoke in the bars as well (this matters to me because I smoke like a chimney).

Any Recommendations regarding food and bars and drinks as well would be really appreciated! I don’t want to elaborate on too much about the places I’ve got on the list already because I will talk about them plenty when the time finally comes to go to Budapest!

So here are some of the wonderful things I want to see and do;

  • Buda Castle – Currenty houses the National Gallery in a very beautiful building.
  • Fisherman’s Bastion – A 19th century Fortress!
  • Hungarian Parliament Building – Explains itself really but apparently the building is one of the more beautiful ones to see.
  • Szechenyl thermal bathI’ll be heading here for definite as I’m going to Budafest, so one of their parties is the Spa Parties! Which is held in the beautiful and yellow coloured heated spa facilities!
  • Matthias Church – More gorgeous architecture.

  • Great Market Hall – A small shopping mall! Souvenirs on the 1st floor and food on the bottom!
  • Gellert Hill – 235m Hill overlooking the Danube!
  • Vajdahunyad Castle – The evolution of Hungarian Architecture in on castle!

Gorgeous Dress and suit, the two colours go so well together and the two of them presented so well. They look elegant and class.

So It is safe to say out of all the Designers that bared their debuts on the Red Carpet of the Met Gala, there was one brand in particular which stood out (Don’t know if you’ve guessed it yet but most probably judging by my choices), with endless beautiful dresses and designs;

I loved every single design/dress by Versace that entered the Red Carpet and then some, they all stood out so much more than a lot of other dresses and suites put together and they were eye catching. They were the outfits that drew my attention way before anything else. DAMN STRAIGHT.
I wish I could afford Versace *cries*
Now, this is one we had to discuss.

My personal favourite No Thank you.

In terms of the theme this couple absolutely slayed it and realistically actually looked really good. But there was something about the pairs outfit which I could’nt jump into. I can’t deny they do look incredible, but each to their own, and personal I AINT FEELIN’ IT. Sorry Lana and Jared.

My London Bucket List – Part 11, Gals Trip!

This trip to London was really good fun because instead of doing some exploring of new areas I was being the tour guide!

My Cousin and her girlfriend, Charlotte and Zara, came to London!

Naturally for me having fam come up is the best thing in the world so I loved being able to see the girls and show them London!

We did the Thames walk which Brad and I did on my birthday!

We walked This time we actually walked over the Millennium Bridge and it made me realise that its a pretty impressive piece of architecture. We marvelled at the Tate Modern Building for a bit and then continued our walk down the river! One day soon I will go in there.

We stopped at Shakespeare globe, only to be told after I thought it was the real thing, that it isn’t! Its just a replica of the original building which I guess makes sense as it would be old and rotten if it was the same building.

The walk was wonderful, we caught up and we enjoyed the street art, the girls are both very into their photography and Zara also into her film as well, so it was a grand day out for pictures alike!

The artwork outside of Wagamama’s was enjoyable enough for us to stop!

If you would like to see more of Charlotte and Zara’s Photography and film work I have linked their accounts at the bottom of the post!

We walked over Tower Bridge and looked at HMS Belfast, By HMS Belfast along the Thames was an outside Art Gallery! It was all photography so naturally it was perfect because the girls love all that.

We had another nose at Tower of London and had a little seat outside the building by the water as well, it was a very chilled but also plenty of walking kind of day too, and then we headed for some food!

CAMDEN MARKET YAAAAAS!!!

NATURALLY I has my usual fodder in Camden which is the Chinese food! The most amazing noodles, sweet and sour chicken amongst other things!

I love it because its all cooked up and made in front of you on the food market, Of course there are plenty of other things to eat but I am always very set on the Chinese, its a lovely treat!

We had a look at the Amy Winehouse Statue as well, it’s a very nice memorial for an absolute ICON.

After that we made out way in the unfortunate miserable weather to Primrose Hill so that we could enjoy the view! Naturally for pictures it was a very successful day, but the weather on the other hand was not at all on our side.

But we could still see the view! I was adamant we had walked all along the canal to Primrose Hill, all for it to be foggy and grey! But we got very very lucky.

It was MISERABLE, It rained and if it wasn’t raining then it was grey but of course we made the best of the day, it was just glorious to see them and be out in London again!

29683607_10210918221343387_1630433358025549848_nWe went for a tea in Costa by Marylebone Station after all the excitement. We looked back on all of our pictures and it was just lovely to see them.

I’ve had an incredibly tough year mentally, so any family visit is wonderful.

I have a Polaroid now of the 3 of us and it is so nice I’ve popped it up on my memory wall for this year!

I love those girls, it was definitely a day that I wont forget, especially because for once I was in the Tour Guide shoes!

Don’t forget to check out the girls Instagram pages with their photography below!
