Miami – KUWTK Style

When I was in Miami, I fell in love, With Miami. I would live there in a shot if I ever got the chance too. When we stayed in Miami on South Beach we did it in real Keeping up With the Kardashian Style and stayed in the Hilton on South Beach! Here they filmed Kourtney and Kim Take Miami where they lived in the penthouse, and it felt pretty cool to be able to say we were staying there, not only were the views from my balcony something else but we were also right next to Nikki Beach, and I was forever sad at the fact I wasn’t old enough to go at the time.

A pretty cool fact is that I’ve stayed in Hilton Hotels all over before, and now I’m about to start working in one. Wonder if they’ll let me have a transfer to Miami??? I wish.

I was incredibly grateful to be staying in such a place as it was something I’d never experienced before. I shared a bedroom with Imi and Tash, we had our own lounge where Tash slept and Imi and I shared the bedroom. We even had an en suite which was HUGE and a kitchen? It was wonderfully impressive and i’d never stayed anywhere like it before.

31The pool area was my favourite, with a large rectangle pool and a bar in the corner, plenty of sunbeds and these huge canopy beds at the back where I did indeed spend most  of my time tanning and eating, especially eating. When they bring chips TO YOU AT YOUR SUNBED, you just kinda have too really. Georgia and I definitely took advantage of this.

One thing I had to ask the barman, who was incredibly lovely, was what Miami Beach was like when Ultra Music festival was on. For those who aren’t aware of what Ultra Music festival is its for those who are into House, Techno, Drum and Bass, the list goes on but you get the idea of what type of music it is. Its known globally and while tickets aren’t exactly cheap they’re not unaffordable for normals like me, its just the price of actually getting to Miami thats the issue!30 From what he said, Miami South is a completely different place when Ultra is on, and I don’t doubt it for a second considering how huge the festival is. I was just jealous that he got to be around the area when it was on, and even be near it.

We were in Miami for about 4 days, and were there on Halloween. Halloween in Miami is something else but I’ll get to that on another post because it was definitely worth talking about. Most morning’s us 4 girls would vacate to the starbucks down the road for breakfast, it was nice to get out of the hotel for some food, see what was knocking about in the neighbourhood!

We went for a few meals out, one was at this awesome restaurant and Im eternally sorry for not remember the name of it because it was so nice. We all sat down and we had what looked like a green table mat, but when your mat was upwards and green they would bring meats to your table and you would then choose which meats you would like to eat and they would put it on your plate! And if you mat was reversed the opposite side was red, and that meant that you did not want anymore meat so they wouldn’t come and offer anything too you! I’d never been to a restaurant like it, so it was a pretty enjoyable experience and the food was heavenly.

105I’m assuming its a Miami thing to put all the expensive cars outside of the restaurants to make the restaurant look even more suave than usual?! When we left that restaurant there was a red Ferrari parked out the front!

We also went to another restaurant which was a steakhouse, this was on our last night and the food was lovely. They even did some monster desert that us youngens all thought we would share! It was a huge chocolate slab of cake, it woud’ve been rude not too. Although the place was lovely and we all dressed up as it was our last night, I didn’t feel to well so ended up walking back to the hotel and going to bed before I could even take a bite of the cake.

If I could go back to the Hilton I definitely would and one day I will, hopefully by then I’ll be able to go to Nikki Beach! I’m only one year away from 21, then I’ll be able too and I’m excited already.

Orlando To Miami – ROAD TRIPPIN’!!

We decided from the start of the holiday we were going to drive to Miami South Beach from Orlando as a convoy, two SUV cards both packed and ready to roll for the 5 hour journey! And it didn’t disappoint. Honestly I spent a majority of the journey wondering how the hell my parents knew where they were going. We did two initial stops, although there was a quick one because we got lost being adventurous.

162We’d been driving about an hour when we stopped for a toilet break and some breakfast,  Dunkin’ Doughnuts? Don’t mind if we do. The scenery hadn’t changed much; we could tell we were still in the depths of Orlando, but there was a lot less around as were were driving. Not as many buildings or places to stop and enjoy. So once we’d stopped at Dunkin’ Doughnuts and stocked up on munch and were satisfied, we were off on our road trip once again to the holy land.

A little further along the way more buildings and roads and cars generally appeared, which meant we were getting somewhere, and getting closer! We stopped for lunch on our journey to Miami at Palm Beach! I didn’t catch the name of restaurant we went to but we sat outside under a canopy and all 13 of us enjoyed a big lunch! Us younger ones went for a wander along the beach, there was a huge pier which I wish we’d had time to walk down. There were also countless volley ball pitches on the sand, which was awesome but I can’t play volley ball for love nor money. The food was lovely and it was a really good break in the journey as it was starting to get a bit tedious.

We got a little lost before we finally managed to make it to Miami. I could never have told you the route we followed but it involved looking at a lot of beautiful beachside houses that were impressively large. We had to make a stop to stretch the legs and figure out which way was the right way but we made it in the end!

I remember arriving in Miami and being absolutely lost for words. What a place is all I have to say. I would live in Miami if anyone gave me the chance because its hands down the place of my dreams. Beautiful beaches, houses, fast cars, better lifestyle, god If only.

One day hey! I’ll be writing about my experience in Miami from here on! These were some of my favourite experiences of the holiday!

Orlando – Universal S(unburn)tudio’s

Universal Studios was incredible, We did both sides of the park and of course we visited more than once, my all time favourite ride is at these parks, duh, The Hulk! Universal is sick, from The Simpsons world to Harry Potter world and all the other awesome rides and places it has to offer its definitely a come back more than once job!

Of course we all had our photograph of us on the giant fake blue wave in the entrance to the parks, it would’ve been rude not too, and I also absolutely LOVED the Billabong shop they had so of course I did spent a little too much time there. Theres also the beautiful view of the river that runs through the entrance to both universal parks and the entrance to the Hard Rock restaurant, the best time was when the sun was setting, it was gorgeous.

And not forgetting the rather large spinning earth and Universal Studios sign before you enter the park on the right side, I mean did you even go to Universal if you didn’t get a photograph in front of it?

Of course upon entering the park for a majority of the day all I was doing was applying suncream, which didn’t work, because I got royally burnt as per usual when is anything ever different with me. My face and my nose flare up so much when they’re burnt you may as well call me Rudolf. So many great rides at universal and so little time, but regardless of that we went on the Hollywood Rock It probably the most, although The Hulk was definitely a close second!

278My favourite time on the Hollywood Rock It was when I went on the ride with Imi, obviously you get on the ride and you strap yourself across your legs and stomach and whilst you’re making your way up to the first drop you get to choose what music you listen too as you go around the course, and at the time they were also filming your experience for you to take home instead of a photo. Id decided to listen to Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger because what other banger is better than that.

So it was video’ing Imi and I as we went round, and I’m pretty sure after watching it back with Ims she passed out on nearly every single drop on the ride and then came back to life screaming and smiling whenever we weren’t on a drop or loop, and the ride managed to get it all on film! I wish, I WISH I’d bought a copy of the film because we were hysterical laughing!

Some of the other rides that deserved just as much recognition has got to be The Mummy Ride, The Transformers 4D ride and the Men in Black shooting/game ride was so much fun. Im a pansy and hate simulator rides, so the Twister ride was lost to me, which is such a shame as I love the film! After being in Orlando a while I was starting to get sick of eating crappy foods so universal was my saviour in terms of the huge big tubs of fruit they sold around the park, easily my favourite buy because I was starting to forgot how good the sweet nectar of fruit was whilst we were out there.

269Of course The Simpsons world was fun, although I bottled it on the ride they had to offer, so I held the bags whilst everyone went on! But it was so cool how they had a Moes Bar and all the other Simpson related statues and venues! I even got to have a cute photo with Millhouse!

From The Simpsons world we went across to the Men in Black ride which was interactive, where you sat in a carriage of 4 and shoot things and get a score, I was crap, of course.

For those who are massive Harry Potter fans you’ll know just how incredibly impressive Diagon Alley and Harry Potter world, Hogwarts, the train and the Duelling dragon rides are. Not to mention the Butter beer, So sweet but so good. Nothing was cooler than walking along Diagon Alley and realising that the dragon breathes fire down at all of us walking through the street! We also had a pretty good chat with the man who was running the ‘night bus; in the park, he was pretty up for a photograph and a natter! Now I’m not a huge Harry Potter fan, but It didn’t take much to absolutely blow me away with just how impressive the place was.

We took the train from platform 9 and 3 quarters across to the other side of the park which was awesome. It was newly opened when we headed there, there was 5 of us to a cubicle and the movie they showed on the window and the special effects with the carriage doors was so cool, so fascinated and great to be reminded of what happens in the Harry Potter films! The train dropped us in the adventure island part of Universal where the duelling dragons and the village with Hogwarts was, Im not sure how it happened but after a few tears from one of our youngest members of the families, we managed to bag ourselves a quick tour of the Hogwarts castle and then on the ride that was inside Hogwarts!

The Duelling dragons were good fun, and of course we had to go on both the Red ride and the Blue ride too see which one was better! I preferred the red ride hands down.

NOW of course because we’d come across to the other side of the park there was a whole new park to explore basically, this side of the park consisted of Dr Seuss’s area, as well as Jurassic Park and the Marvel area, which is definitely my favourite area!

228Jurassic Park was good fun because at Universal they have the water ride for Jurassic Park, not only was Imi terrified of all the dinosaurs that jumped out, and I don’t blame her either, but as we were making our way up the massive hill to then go down the HUGE drop they have, which FYI soaked me through even though I was holding a waterproof coat over GJ and myself, one of the padre’s our group had his Go Pro out and you can just hear some america voice say “Can you please put your Go Pro away sir” over the intercom, but, I’m sorry love, we didn’t hear you, what was that???? It was wild fun, I’ve NEVER been on a water ride with such a steep drop! Scared the living daylights out of me! But of course we were soaked, and it was great, kept us cool for the duration of the day as to was a scorcher!

Carrying on through the park the Spiderman 4D experience ride was tonnes of fun although it made me a little nervous in terms of simulator rides, but it was good’un in the end! AND I got to meet Captain America and HOLD HIS SHIELD, But typically, with my rather short shorts its made me look very naked…

Got to meet Optimus Prime too! The transformers costumes were seriously impressive, I couldn’t tell if they were ran by remote control or if there were people actually inside them, but they were really tall and so detailed, they were so impressive.

My favourite part of the holiday in terms of food in Orlando, was the Hard Rock Cafe Orlando in Universal Studios, I was excited to eat there before we’d even arranged to go there put it that way. Not only was it huge inside and out but it had a Cadillac just in the middle of the restaurant spinning around above the bar below it! When we arrived there was 13 of us and they even took a group photograph of us before we all went to sit down, and it was a great picture as we didn’t get another like it the entire holiday.

The food was incredible, I had a burger with bacon, cheese and the sweetest BBQ sauce, then all of us girls had mocktails because boo hoo the drinking age being over 21 in the US, none of us qualified for that haha! But the mocktails were nice none the less! I loved looking at all the famous musicians outfits dotted about the restaurant too, I’d also never eaten in a Hard Rock before this night either so it was a fun experience!

Id love to go back to Universal soon as they have opened a Kong: Skull Island ride, and it bet its phenomenal because I LOVED the film! One day I’ll head back.

Orlando – The Orca In the Room

Uh oh spaghetti-o, guess who has a very strong dislike for Seaworld? Yup, you guessed it. Seaworld is a difficult topic for a few. Please remember whilst you’re reading through this post this is my opinion, I can’t stress this enough, I don’t speak for anyone but myself.

334I enjoy Seaworld because of its rollercoasters, and the fact that they have people there that dress up as mermaids. Dreams can come true in the shape of a fake fish tail and a shell bikini. The rollercoasters at Seaworld I have to admit, are amazing. I love Manta and the fact they lay you down when you’re on the ride, its like you’re flying & I also love the ride The Kraken as its HUGE. It was the biggest rollercoaster they had when I went, I think there is currently a larger one under construction at the moment in the park!

Seeing the Penguins was enjoyable but made me slightly sad at the size of their enclosure, and I don’t like simulators, so I skipped the ride associated with the penguins and went straight to the penguins haha! Going on the log flume was SO much fun too and it was perfect to cool us down on the warm day!

580I can’t fault Seaworld in terms of everything other than its shows. The park itself I always always enjoy myself. It was lovely to be there with the families I was with and we had a great time. And I tried ice cream that was in little balls for the first time, no pun intended, it was literally tiny tiny little balls and they were ice cream! So cool! Literally! (now that was a shitty pun)

*****

Now, the main attraction at Seaworld is quite evidently their shows. This is where I discuss my opinion on it, its up too you whether you read or not.

Their Dolphin shows, and their Orca shows, Their Orca shows being their main and their largest show. Now whilst these shows are great for the little ones, or for those who aren’t aware of the animal cruelty involved, or even if you just like the shows generally, there were so many hidden secrets, which are no longer hidden due to media coverage, from the outside world about Seaworld.

Admittedly, part of me never wants to go to Seaworld because I know that if I pay the entry fee, its probably going towards harmful and horrid things that I don’t want it too, but when you’re in a group of large people and a majority want to go, you don’t really have much choice. That and there are other things to do within the park which I enjoy, for example as before; the rides!

My issue with Seaworld started when I learnt about the captivity of their Orca’s and how small and unpractical their tanks are, how much and far they actually swim in those tanks compared too how much they should and could swim when out in the wild. Going around and around in circles in those small tanks. Imagine if that was you, forced to perform and put in a small tank where you could hardly move around.

Of course, another thing that played a big part in my thoughts on Seaworld was Blackfish, the documentary on one of their whales Tilikum, who has unfortunately passed away in January 2017, if you haven’t seen it and are a little curious as to whats actually going on a Seaworld, give it a watch!

Not only have these animals being in captivity caused their nature to be violent due to their breeding programmes of other violent whales, but trainers have died or been near death after accidents where the whales have landed on them or grabbed hold of them. They’re not meant to be show animals, they’re meant to be in the ocean.

Theres not enough room in those tanks, those conditions for all those Orca’s and Dolphins is abysmal, as well the other animals in the park, and to go into the park and spend money made me wonder how much of this cruel fantasy I was funding. Of course, minus all that doom and gloom, I did actually have a wonderful day with those I was with.

Of course I could go on and on, but I’m pretty sure you get the picture.

But the shows were something I didn’t enjoy, And I never will until they’re free.

Vienna – Sight-Seeing Galore!

There’s plenty of things to do and see when traveling about in Vienna! At least thats how I felt, we walked for ages some days but through the painful feet we always saw some beautiful things.

One of the most gorgeous places we went when we were in Vienna was the Schoenbrunn Castle, the gardens and the Gloriette.

The inside of the palace walls blew me away because the palace was so huge and impressive, it was a light beige colour and very authentic, it was like nothing Id ever seen before, purely for its size! If you head round the side of the castle you can walk through the rose cage and into the castle gardens which are just as impressive in size as the castle.

To walk up the to the Gloriette and to get an incredible view of Vienna you had to walk through their gardens directly behind the castle first. Theres a large fountain before the steep hill up towards the Gloriette, the architect didn’t hold back when building this place because everything about it is impressive in terms of size, the fountain is also, you guessed it, huge.

The gardens went on for miles, I believe somewhere within all the gardens theres a zoo?! There was also what appeared to be a botanical garden in a large greenhouse like building, it was really unique form the outside. I totally wish I’d gone inside when I had the chance, it was very photogenic, the whole of the gardens and palace are.

The trek up the hill to see the Gloriette was totally worth it. Not only was the Gloriette gorgeous but so was the view. I’d wanted to walk up the hill from the moment I saw it so I could see the view and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

The Gloriette is unbelievably impressive and towers over the hill, it also has a little cafe inside too! The sight of it and the attention to detail on the statues, the arches and the writing that is on the building, and the general structure of it would be any architects dream for sure. It’s been there since 1755 and also displays trophies and Roman Empire armour and many other Roman trinkets.

*****

The Danube is the river that runs through Vienna, we walked along it when we were shopping in town and when we got the tube one day. We got off at the stop where it’d on the bridge over the danube, it was lovely and was a gorgeous day which made the view a whole lot better.

We sat on the steps down to the water when we walked along side it, It was warm and I took my shoes off wandering up and down the steps, some of the graffiti on the walls was funky too, some of it was so well done!

*****

One of the first places that Julia took Jake and I was Karlzplatz, where I accidentally got a photo of the car park and put it on my insta saying how gorgeous it was there when really it was majority car park, so yeah, reaaaaally gorgeous haha!

But the Opera House in Karlzplatz is one that Tom Cruise jumped off in one of the Mission Impossible films (Mission Impossible 5)! I was I’d had the chance to see the Opera so I guess it gives me a very good excuse to visit again! They also held the premier for the Mission Impossible 5 film at the opera house!

*****

One morning we decided to not let our hangovers defeat us and we went on a road trip to a lake and man made beach! When we got there we paid about €5 to get in, then when inside they had changing areas and toilets, a huge balcony seating area on the water and multiple beanbags and sun-beds to chill out on. Theres a field of grass behind all this and then if you carry on walking theres a man made beach with sand and all! We set up on the sand with our towels and got tanning.

It was really cool to chill out and tan our hangovers away, we also went for a swim in the lake and it was so fretting. Theres a restaurant / cafe also there were we got lunch and could look over the lake. It was a really pretty place and a perfect day with friends.

*****

We spent a day shopping in Vienna, I’ll never forget storming to the till in Zara and Julia not really giving Jake any choice on the matter in buying a €50 cardigan. I’ve never asked Jake if he wears it so Jake if you’re reading this let me and Julia know!

We walked through the streets of Vienna looking at all the fancy shops and restaurants, we walked past places like Gucci, Chanel and Marc Jacobs and it all looked so flawless. Of course there was H&M, Forever 21, all the just as brilliant and cheaper shops for the broke students like me! The shops that got me the most was the #Respect Your Ass shop where you could make your won customised pair of jeans, It was cool inside and out, I wish I’d got some.

There were also plenty of statues dotted about which were made of gold! We had the nice Ice cream whilst walking back as it was getting a bit cold, and what better log then to have Ice cream when you’re cold. It was SO NICE. I rate Ice cream and that stuff was gorgeous.

Whilst out shopping we came across St, Stephens Cathedral, I never realised how cool the roof of the cathedral was until I saw it myself. It’s all patterned with zig zags in different colours. It was something different, especially for a cathedral!

More architectural beauty for sure in the heart of Vienna!

Vienna – Schnitzel blew my mind.

We didn’t go out very much when we were in Vienna due to staying in with Julia and the wonder of takeaways, but the few chances we did get to go out for some grub were really great.

71We went out for dinner to Vapiano’s twice, I loved it, although I was madly hungover and couldn’t eat much for the second time we went.

This was the first time I’d ever heard of Vapiano’s when Julia took us there for some lunch. I made myself the FATTEST Spaghetti bolognese ever. It was so cool watching it be made right In front of me, I’d never experienced a spaghetti bolognese so fast in my entire life. And my god was it delicious. You get to choose your entire dish at the counter in parts, like what pasta and sauce you want etc. Honestly its the best place, I went there in Amsterdam too!

*****

26Another place we went was just a small german restaurant, I didn’t catch the name of it but Julia really wanted Jake and I to try some schnitzel! We were totally up for it so we decided whilst wondering around Vienna that we headed to get some!

It came with some potato salad and we ordered quite a lot, but there were 3 of us, and it was really really nice. It wasn’t a familiar taste at all but It was really different and tasted so great! The dish originated in Austria, so we were pretty happy we got to give it a good taste!

Vienna – Dancing till my feet could dance no more.

8When we got to Vienna of course we knew that there was going to be lots of clubbing involved and alcohol to be consumed within the next week. It was inevitable as raging student alcoholics.

On our first night when we arrived in the airport we were already late for our first party, Julia and her friend both showed up at the airport in Traditional Austrian clothing and they looked so incredible I wanted a dress myself!

Unfortunately we missed the Traditional Austrian Party but we ended up heading on out anywhere to a club that where we got in for free! The music was good and unfortunately I don’t remember what the places was called but for our first night it was definitely a good one. We landed in Vienna at 9pm and were out until the early AM! The perfect way to start a holiday, we also met some of Julia’s amazing friends, it was a lovely night! We ended up getting the night bus home and that was different, I’m pretty sure we were out until 5am getting the right buses home!

One night Julia was working so her friends took us to a bar in Vienna called Kaktus, It was a cool looking places with different coloured lights and high chairs and tables. We had a few cocktails and drinks but it was a relatively quiet night out and we were home by 12! Which felt so nice because I was excited for a full nights sleep!

*****

Julia and her friends took us out one night to a club called U4. It was somewhere in the depths of Vienna and was underground, It had two rooms, one being a cheesy hits floor and the other being a hip hop dance floor. It was a pretty cool place, the shape of the bars were so different and the drinks were fairly expensive! It was cool because again you could smoke in the clubs! I didn’t smoke at the time so I didn’t really appreciate it then but when I go back I know I will!

The funniest night was easily the night we only made it to pre drinks because jake was sick everywhere, I’ll never forget that, Shout out to you Jake, I hope you remember exactly what happened that night!

*****

We headed out another night into Vienna where we ended up at this really huge nightclub, I was never told the name but it was honestly massive and had a huge area outside with a money grab machine and photographs. The drinks were a relatively good price, it was picture perfect and so cool for a club, We danced the night away and had a real laugh. I got given a sticker on my purse, but Ill leave you to wonder what It means! This night I realised that I was short and that Julia’s friends are SO much fun! We didn’t stay out too late this evening but it was such a picture perfect place for a club!

*****

Our last night was probably the best night, we went to a few house parties whilst we were out in Vienna but the best one was the pre party before we went to the club called Passage, which again lead to being easily the best night out in Vienna. Downside was it was our last night, but at least it was an incredible one!

The pre party was all fun and games at one of Julia’s friends house, it was sad to have photos as we knew we weren’t all going to see each other for a really long time. But the session was great and drinks were flowing and it was such a nice time It made me realise Julia introduced me to easily the best people ever, everyone was so nice and welcoming, I hope to see them all again soon when I head back to Vienna soon.

95So we headed out to Passage and it really was the funkiest place, Passage is basically an underground walkway converted into a massive underground club with ceiling tiles that change colour, a huge DJ Booth the my friend ended up falling into after leaning on the door when it was slightly open, and a large bar and seating areas all around the edge of the club. It was a mint place, they also sold these huge drinks called Zombies, they had every alcohol under the sun in by the taste of them, they were very strong and although I never bought one for myself I somehow ended up being next level ruined.

114It was easily the best night out we had, the music and the atmosphere was great. When the night ended Julia nearly got into a taxi without Jake and I, could you imagine, us lost in Vienna!  Would be absolute carnage! We didn’t get home until early morning, early enough that we got to see the sunrise as we arrived back at Julia’s.

The next day was our flight, and I was written off. I couldn’t remove my head from a toilet bowl for a good 4 hours, let alone get on a flight. But alas I struggled through, I just needed a tea on the plane and I would be happy. Which was something I didn’t get, So I wasn’t happy.
